New to the game.

Having a really hard time playing anything other than Arc/Sum. I have a feeling that I've (once again), rolled the class that's best for me first lol.

I've done this in a lot of games over the years, but especially MMOs over the last 10. I certainly have played enough of them I suppose.

Trying to play some other classes, but the DPS + Pet + heals + AOE dot spreading, how does it get better than this?

Just remember as Summoner you are expected to DPS, and pretty much at most Raise for the healer. No real endgame healing for Summoner
That is, unless you want to try Scholar. Mainly healer, but they are sometimes expected to DPS in endgame content.

Personally I tried other classes to see what they had to go through when playing. Found out I loved healing but (still) hated tanking. Everyone likes different jobs, though. I'm with my first job I picked, too, though I always play archers/bards so I knew I was going to like it.

I have played a lot of Mmo in my days. The very first mmo that I tried was everquest for the ps2. I did all the classes but out of all the classes I tired one stood out the most and those the monks. Did guild wars rolled a monk. Warcraft monk ff11 monk there's a whole lot more but didn't stick with them for to long due to lacking of monk class. Been a monk since 2.0 of 14.

The key is your chocobo. Chocobo with healing skill set will really help you playing classes other than SMN. Dps or tank chocobo is also okay, but you can't really solo boss type FATEs.

It gets better by se not having its brain sucked out cloning wow warlocks and slapping the familiar job name of the ff brand. Ff 14 will start to become bland if it doesn't start being a bit more original.

The nice thing about them forcing you to level other classes (like the one you need to 15 to unlock jobs or others you need for skills, such as thm's swiftcast, which you will want as smn/sch) is that it makes you play a class you most likely would never touch otherwise and I know plenty of people who grumbled to high heaven about having to level this class or that one for skills or to unlock their "favorite" and ended up loving that class they cursed to no end so much they ended up making it their main.

Sometimes getting your hand forced is a good thing.

I went that route at first but i started as a White Mage because we needed a healer but my main became Monk. I think part of it was I enjoyed playing Valkyr in Warframe (you can look it up for yourself if you like) so that carried over to this game. And i seem to enjoy fast paced classes, everything else feels slower.

Im glad you are enjoying your first class though.

I started out the game as arc/sch (and only recently delved into summoner) But once rogue was released I picked that up and...well, it was awesome. No animation locks, increased movement speed, increased attack speed with huton.... Every once in a while now I'll go back to playing sch with friends though

In warframe I loved playing as Zephyr or Loki, the faster the better!

SMN at 60 is BA and OP. I love it. Btw, welcome to the game.

Arcanist is a good class if you want to play both healer and DPS cause it levels up for both SCH and SMN jobs. By far SMN is one of the greatest DPS classes, i enjoyed it a lot more than BLM. When you get spells like Fester and Bane you will know why SMN is so awesome

understand what your pets abilities are and when to use which pet if you choose SCH or SMN. Some tanks might get a little mad if you are using the wrong pet or if the pet is pushing trash mobs away (Garuda for example)
