Do DOTs still do damage after boss has become untargetable?

Hello, I'm not really a new player but I feel like this is a noon question.

Primal Fights as well as raids like Titan, Garuda, Bismarck, Thordan all have points where the boss becomes untargetable and invincible too IIRC.

Now I would like to know so I can raise my DPS in fights like these... Do the Dots continue to tick after Thordan walks away/Titan Jumps up, Bismarck shakes, Garuda goes up...or do the dots just tick for 0 instantly and become wasted GCDs that would have been better spent on a Ruin III...

Just curious and please no guesses. I have been wondering this since I started the game because if DoTs still tick... Applying a DoT before he leaves would be significantly more DPS than any non-Dot unless it is Miasma II or something like that.

I remember reading somewhere that they generally do, but not always. I remember a thread a while ago about how some bosses in Heavensward seem to be immune to damage when untargetable and off-screen. I think the example given was Ravana EX, but I could be wrong. And that's all hearsay. anyway.

During the few times I run PvE content, I tend to try to ensure that DoTs are on my target when it's time for them to become untargetable, just to be safe.

Depends on the boss. Titan, for instance, is still vulnerable when he jumps, so DoTs deal damage. Better to try DoT-ing them just to be safe, though I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

They do in Ravana. Killed him multiple times with dots right before enrage while he was untargetable doing one of his liberations.

Basically, it varies but I've found that most bosses are affected by them.

Well, there were times when the last boss of Neverreap dies of my DOTs (as a SMN) while he's become invulnerable, when we have to destroy the wind sprites in order to make him vulnerable again phase.

Indeed. I've seen him die midway through final lib and occasionally whatever random one he does if he gets that far. I can't say anything about Thordan Ex though, since I haven't set foot in there, but I can't actually recall any example where dots stop ticking when a boss goes invulnerable or untargetable so logic would follow that dots continue to tick in there as well.

Unless the boss actually puts an invincible buff on itself (you'll see this through focus target even when they're not targetable), I would assume that your dots still do damage. It really depends on the exact fight.
