    should be like this
    equality
    crafted gear 70% rare100%
    +1 materia 80%
    +2 materia 90%
    +3 materia 100%
    +4 materia 110%
    +5 materia 120%

    these percentages are based on the assumption that bonding the 4th and 5th piece of meteria will be fairly difficult.

    so what i mean by this is rare gear shoul be obviously better then crafted, but after putting 3 materia on crafted you see the gear start to even out. if you can get 4 or 5 materia on it you'll se the gear start to outperform the rare gear.

    i think doing this would create a better sense of gear balance. you dont want either gear to become obsolete so a system like this would give some flexibility.

    right now crafted and rare gear stats are too close that rare gear will become obsolete, they shold at least make rare gear turn into rare materia.

    True that is a good idea and we all know this system is new so they will balance it in later updates.

    Anyway on your point what if a gear is so strong its only allowed 2 slots. Are they both forbidden or is the first one free at all times?

    in ff7 different weapons had dif amount of slots, if i recall correctly i think one of sids lances had 7 slots which was the most of any weapon.

    It really took me a second to grasp what you were getting at. But once I comprehended this, I was ok with it. It shows how it could be balanced to keep things relevant and worthwhile. And that will end up being the important thing, balance. Nobody wants to see hard earned raid gear end up worthless

    Well, you got it across and i like it. But currently +3 crafted gear is better then rare/ex gear and with materia no one who is smart will be wearing rare/ex gear. So in order to make your idea happen SE will need to go back and retool either all crafted gear to be weaker or all R/EX gear to be stronger or even retool BOTH.

    I am already tired of SE going back to retool things (even tho i agree with the ideas they did and had to do) and i think letting us add materia even if its just one or two to rare/ex gear will help keep rare/ex something we can still wera and upgrade.

    well they are doing away with +1 +2 AND +3 in favor of NQ and HQ, i dont think they've mentioned if the bonus will work the same either

    You bring up a good topic DNO, for anyone that doesnt know the HQ/NQ system will be changing and nobody knows the specifics of it. ATM not all stats are effected by hq/nq. On armor it is just the defensive stats that are altered. If the crafted nq gear has hp on it, the hq version still has the same hp. So you could theoretically have gear (solid scale mail) that has wonderful effects like str, but its def will be considerably lower than hq gear.

    on weapons the offensive stats are altered. and when you compare a raid weapon, like the canopus guisarme to HQ weapons it is outclassed.

    I wish we had some word on the changing hq/nq system

    true that is a great point i just assumed they would keep +3 stats but that could be wrong.

    Yea true. I do not think (or know) SE will lower all HQ stats but they could. They like to tell us gimps on things the day of the update like the THM gimp. lol that was the day of the update lol.
