OP: You can remove all your furnishings and destroy the house and get your permit back, the permit can then be resold on the MB. It's what I've done right now.

Where does it place it on the market board so I can search/browse the land permits? I'd love to know so I can get my own!

The permit is just the permission to build the house on a purchased lot. The permits are normally sold by NPCs for 300-500K or so. The housing lot itself cannot be sold on the market board.

I have a FC house that i want for myself (FC is dead), so i can destroy the house and get the permit back ok, but will i be able to make a private house on that spot or only rebuild a FC house? i really need to know!

in order to make it a personal property, you would have to relinquish the property and then rebuy it as a personal property, it doesn't allow us, as far as I've seen to make a private house into an fc house or vice versa.

Building a house is a two-step process^^; you've got to buy the land(plot), and then the permit. The permit is what will 'build' the house (you can alter its appearance after). If you're able to buy a permit cheaper on the MB than what the NPC sells, it should save some gil! :3
