It's not really sexist. Almost every other dance seems to have been designed to be more 'feminine' than 'masculine' - I'm sure people can cope with one dance subjectively looking better when performed by men rather than women.

In before the reason the female version is lackluster is because SE was worried about panty-shots from half-squatting.
It's not sexist at all. Someone earlier in the thread linked a video that showed the differences in how males and females do the dance this is based off of. The females' version tends toward somewhat softer, less aggressive motions than the males' version does.
Here's the quote with the video link:
It's probably because the dance is based on the Maori Haka which kinda makes sense why the female dance is much softer compared to the males which is more aggressive.
That's the thing, that is the Haka, if you look at comparison videos, the girl's version is just.. Boring and really subdued.

Anyways. Really hoping SE makes it so we have access to both the girl and guy version, the girl version looks super boring (Kinda like she's just there to do it and waiting to go home but w/e). I was going to see about making a "SE please make both versions of the dance accessible for the guys and girls" thread, and I might in the future considering the tone of this thread is more of a discussion rather than a request. It really sucks that currently it's how the sundrop dance looks on the girls, as I surely didn't notice any girl vanu vanu (Who are super low in sexual dimorphism and still large and tough looking <3) and was really excited to get it, especially on some of my girl Roes.
... Kinda hoping if a thread requesting for both version to be available shows up we can keep it polite though >_> I'm a huge advocate of making every item unisex myself, so I'd really dislike for a whole "Just use a fantasia" comments wouldn't be used, even in a joking or semi-reactionary manor.
I'm a giant dragon and heretic sympathizer and I love character customization
See my thread about equalizing the heights for men and women of each race! http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/253435-A-suggestion-regarding-height.
Still I think it's sexist, why the female's has to be less aggressive and softer? It isn't really that hard to spread legs like the male's version of the dance and pounds chest!
Oops I think I might have to stop there.

I think this applies to this topic as well. Just exchange "outfit" with "dance".I'd assume there would be a rather large outrage on the Japanese forums, and then there will be a thread here bickering back and forth between the same people here.
Fairly normal person: "Could we get a unisex version?"
Fairly normal person 2: "Nice, a male exclusive outfit."
Angry person: "Make that outfit unisex SE or I WILL UNSUB!!!!111"
Smug person: "How the tables have turned..."
Tumblr extremists : "SE IS SEXIST, SEXIST I SAY"
Ì don't think that having something more feminine for female characters is sexist...
Someone earlier posted some screenshots of the brother/sister doing the dance together, there are differences:It really sucks that currently it's how the sundrop dance looks on the girls, as I surely didn't notice any girl vanu vanu (Who are super low in sexual dimorphism and still large and tough looking <3) and was really excited to get it, especially on some of my girl Roes.
(spoiler tagged to save space/loading)
I don't think that's any more sexist than the fact that the male leads in styles like ballroom dancing.
It is sexist, but the blame is on polynesian tribes, not SE, lol. SE did a great job researching the Haka and implementing the difference just like it should be. Besides female dance although not as masculine doesn't arbitrarily make it less fierce.
