Tried to run DD last night to level up WHM and had a tank which had less HP than the DPS, kept facing the boss to us and died in 1 attack from the last boss...I left after my vote abandon was rejected. I can waste time doing other things.

This is a game where you take several dozen times your max HP in every encounter. Your max HP simply doesn't matter, it's all about the RATE at which you take damage. This is why nocturnal aspect and vitality accessories are considered utter garbage, because a shield will simply increase your max HP. In order to DPS in a dungeon you need some kind of regen to slow down the HP loss to a managable level. A scholar's fairy casting embrace counts as a regen for this purpose. A regen effectively counts as 50-90% mitigation if it doesn't stop damage entirely. That's how you dps as a healer. You (and the tank, together) set yourself up to where the tank won't take enough damage to kill them in the next 5-15 seconds. You don't just watch their HP plummet and try to catch it back up. They will lose HP but it will be at a (relatively) slow, controlled rate. Particularly with AST. ASTs will let you get VERY low before switching out of cleric to cast ED, because ED is actually stronger the lower you are and beats out Tetragrammatron anywhere under 50% hp.And for me, someone who just entered the 60's and still getting through HW content, I have around ilvl145 avg gear. With everything stacked in STR, I usually BARELY pass 10k hp with my PLD. BARELY. Sure, if a healer is on top of things, I don't need that extra 2-3k hp my VIT gear will give me. But not everyone is as good as you mate. And in lower dungeons when we get sync'd, having that STR gear ain't gonna help us much in comparison to some VIT gear when we have a bad healer and we need the extra cushion.
As for your other points, there really isn't any excuse for not topping everyone off between pulls unless you're simply that MP starved from spamming gravity. And if you had time to spam that much gravity, the party's probably doing pretty well. But you should never plan your playstyle or equipment around bad players. That simply encourages them to be bad and that's something we need quite a lot less of in this community.
I also want to say that the original post was made in jest, I assumed they'd left out some context. I didn't think someone would actually make a post where the only thing 'wrong' was not keeping the tank at 100% and trying to push for speed a little.
I just want to say that monk unsynced dungeon runs are fun as hell. You have to pull everything door-to-door and if you don't kill it all before bloodbath wears off you die.
This is one I had yesterday, wasn't exactly bad but here it is. Decided to go in as Paladin and as luck would have it got Toto Rak. Ast, Monk and Arcanist so I assume its going to go pretty well, arcanist instantly summons gold carby and from what I can see keeps trying to rip hate off of the unmarked enemies after awhile I just said screw it and let the carby tank what he wanted till he died. Once he died though that was pretty much it, no pet till the end of the dungeon. Despite that still going a bit slower than I expected watching the AST she was just standing there doing nothing unless I hit about 70% and took a good few hits before I even got to that point. The monk is the only one who is actually trying her best and following the mark. Get to the final boss and AST has to go AFK for a sec so I use this time to check levels. The AST had quite a few classes at or above 50, the Arcanist was in the same boat, the monk being the only new one with just the needed classes leveled.
Call me rude or not but at the end of the run (to avoid being kicked lol) I told em it was sad that the new monk out did both of them and commended her.
In low level dungeons like that, having carbuncle tank an enemy lowers the amount of damage the tank has to deal with, allowing the healer to dps more. Typically when the tank is taking two mobs and either the healer (lol) or carby is tanking another, and the healer is dpsing, nobody needs healed until everything is dead. I'm not a summoner so I'm unsure if this scales up to Titan in experts, and I'm super not sure how it compares in actual dps to emerald/garuda. They aren't supposed to let the damn thing die though lol. What level is sustain again, 8?
It's always sad when you think somebody's doing the right thing and you realize they just randomly derped their way into step 1 of what could be a good plan.

Are you gonna reply to each of the posts with your infinite wisdom now? Man aren't we lucky to have you, the uber player who knows everything, may your judgement be always with us!In low level dungeons like that, having carbuncle tank an enemy lowers the amount of damage the tank has to deal with, allowing the healer to dps more. Only when people seem to be confusing different with bad and vise versa. Using topaz in a dungeon is not inherently bad. Being a moron and not healing or resummoning your pet is bad.
I was in an aurum vale once where we had to get a replacement dps...Got Tam-Tara Roulette. Level Sync's WAR, female Miqo'te... wearing the Moonfire swimsuit. Not a glamour. Just the swimsuit, as her body piece.
Hey, it was Tam-Tara, right? No problem. Our AST actually kept the WAR alive, and at the first set of orbs an Aetherial Breastplate dropped as loot. I have probably never seen 3 people hit "PASS" that quickly, ever.
That AST certainly earned her comms!
A Ninja showed up, apparently wearing nothing, figured he's just glamored the emperor's new set...
Nope. All he had on was his weapon and accessories...
2 weeks ago, when void ark came out we had 8 fc members queue together. When we got to last boss we wiped once. We didn't know the fights, as it was the first day that content was up. One of our healers and one dps got disconnected, as well as some members from other alliances. While we waited for the others to come back, a tank from another alliance pulled. Our healer left the room, since her brother (the other healer) wasn't there yet, as well as some other people. The tank from my fc and I thought we had no chance of killing the boss, so we literally tried to die. We walked into AoE's and everything else we could in order to die.. When we were about to, though... Healers from the other alliances would heal us. Everytime! We were yelling in a call: HEALERS, WHY ARE YOUR DOING YOUR JOB? DAMNIT! Surprisingly enough we cleared with less than 20 people and no LB3.
I ran expert roulette with FC mates (PLD and BLM, myself as AST) yesterday, we ended up in Saint Mocianne's Arboretum with a new so-called bard - with accent on "so-called" as she didn't sing. Urgh, my inner bard cried.
After the first boss the PLD wanted to do some big pulls and thus asked the bard if she could sing Foe's Requiem for the BLM. She sings Army's Paeon. We told her what Requiem does, then she sang this, our BLM was happy.
During the second big pull, she didn't sing anymore, and DPS was pretty low - althought I helped out with DPS - so combat took forever and my MP dropped so I asked for Mage's Ballad. She sang Foe's Requiem. I told her what Ballad does, then she sang it.
After the second boss and up to the final boss, this bard always used the right songs at the right time - Ballad for me if my MP dropped below 1.500 after Gravity spam (^^') and otherwise Requiem for our BLM.
This woman entered the dungeon as an archer and (with our advice) left it as a bard :') ...her DPS was substandard though...
