DPS Race bosses really need to stop.

Seriously, older content had much more acceptable levels of enrage failure without people pointing fingers at each other for why they couldn't get Oppressor to 60% before split or phase 1 Bismarck EX in one swoop.

Keep the mechanics sure, but stop giving players a ridiculous timer. There a myriad of other ways to get players to be at their optimal levels for hard content but that MCH can't get a party even with full Eso because no one will risk the DPS check on a subpar BRD.

Someone sounds a bit sour. I'm probably one of the people that like the dps race. It means you have to know your job. The thing I'm still sour about is Mch being a 3.0 Brd. From 30 to 60 I was hoping it would be better, but at a later level I realized it's a brd with a gun (lvl52). Most likely I'll always be sour about that and it won't change, lol. Ranged dps into casting dps, rofl *Sour*

Yeah, there needs to be a check on the hard enrages. Either that or have another look at the numbers for dps class' damage compared to non dps.

So...you can't tell by yourself whether you are o.o?

Frankly, I prefer mechanic checks over DPS checks. "Rotation, rotation, rotation" can get old very fast and it makes boss fights feel very same-y, as I'm more focused on my DPS than on my sorroundings or party members. If every boss was a fight like Faust...goodness, I'd probably not even be able to tell them apart.

SE could/should look back at Second Coil bosses, particularly Melusine. Overall a simple fight (if players didn't "yell" at their party members or Melusine), but gradually got trickier as you progressed because new abilities/mechanics were introduced. I really liked that fight. She did have an enrage set at 11 minutes, but I think most players never saw it (Hysteric Smash, single target hit for 16-17k damage. Possibly ranged).

I'm of two minds on this subject... I think that the checks are necessary to make sure people are playing their roles properly. However, I also think that currently it is an overused concept when it comes to dungeon difficulty. We need bosses with these enrage kills, but I don't think that every dungeon needs one, not even raids.

Agree in principle, mechanics fights are more fun imo (and totally agree with Nestama, T7 still one of my fave fights). But the examples you've given don't really hold up. Bismarck was cleared back when people were in i145 gear. At some point SE need to stop catering to the people that are truly bad. Again, just my opinion, Thordan is a massive step in the right direction, I found this much more fun that the latest savage turns.

Speaking of Bismarck, I ran it a few times over the weekend, trying to get the elusive triple triad card. One run, someone was insistent that we don't even dps the shell in p1, just keep respawning the first two adds, for several minutes, for several runs, to build up echo. is this really what it's come to, people not even TRYING to meet the dps check, but just cheesing thru. I don't even know if this works (is echo based on time, or reaching a certain part of the fight?), but we didn't even attempt it, just disbanded. I did get the card a few runs later and won't be stepping foot in there ever again via df

Well. My only lvl60 is the unwanted machinist, lol. Bismarck not cleared, nor haven't done any savage. I like to believe I'm good at my job, but some other people ruined it for the other's, lol. Heck, it's pretty rare for me to even see brds or mch in parties these days. In 18 voidark runs last week I saw two. So, yeah, I don't know if I like it or not, but I like the fact that you actually have to know what you have to do, instead of being able to blindly do something.

I agree. Enrage timers are alright in moderation, but they feel like a cheat. When an enrage timer hits and the boss kills your party, it doesn't seem like it was ever really a contest. If the boss can kill us instantly whenever it chooses, why not right away? This makes me feel like I'm at an arcade and not part of an adventure. When your party is still going, the fight should as well. I want to feel like it was the monster that killed me, not a number.
