Tanks&Healers; please focus on Role first, then DPS

Yea, for some reason a lot of tanks and healers want to push DPS constantly, even when they have sufficient reason to be doing their actual role. I play SCH as my secondary class, so I know full well that I can get DPS in between heals. I don't, however, put DPSing first. I get particularly annoyed when healers only heal the tank, and completely ignore DPS players getting hurt so they can DPS as the healer. Your job as a healer is to heal. It's one thing if it's a particularly tough DPS check that is overly difficult like Alex Savage, but in normal runs there is absolutely no reason for this behavior beyond the "I have to finish this run 1 min sooner than I would otherwise" mentality, and that is most certainly not a valid excuse.....

Meh, as SCH, giving DoT and Shadow Flare first is top priority. Put Rouse on your faerie and woot, it's gonna same with WHM's Regen with Divine Seal. So... DPS > Healing for me

i agree with this, in a way, because juste verybody want do better DPS, why ... dont ask me ...,
honestly i do think, that if im super hard to kill, then other party member will have easy time killing the target

exemple today, AS1 im focused in stuff for tanking (only vit stuff) in front of me a DRK with most dps accs, when plasma arrived well ...
after he die "huh its the healer they didnt react enoughly fast to heal me ..."
and me with just half my HP gone " -_- " do i have to say we had to wipe and redo it ?

i dont know for healer, but it make me laugh VERY hard to see, ppl rushing dps (in tank) and dying miserably !!

Nah, people get whiny when don't healers dps, so I dps but I also tell them to self heal. DPS must bring healing potions its mandatory so healers can dps.

I don't think OP was trying to say the two things are mutually exclusive.

You can tell all the tanks who want to DPS because they play DRKs or WARs. Those are the people that probably didn't really want to be a traditional tank anyway. PLDs are the only real tanks. PLD 4 lyfe, brahs.

Also, the reason why healers and tanks push DPS is because that's because DPS whine. DPS can't do their job so they need tanks and healers to supplement. WARs, DRKs, and SCHs are happy to provide the DPS while PLDs, WHMs and maybe ASTs wanted to actually do their role of tanking/healing respectively.

The problem is that the content is either so easy that a competent healer is left with a tremendous amount of downtime, or it is tuned so highly that a healer (or tank) is required to put out a relatively tremendous amount of damage to meet checks. If healers lacked DPS skills in this game I wouldn't play one. Outside of progression raiding and a few notable portions of fights, if you were to only heal in this game you would spend a huge amount of time staring at the screen doing nothing. In fact, you can see people doing this all the time in duty finder. I don't understand how that is fun, but that's just me.

It is unfortunate that many people aspire to this meta without proper knowledge of their jobs, or a lack of situational awareness (or basic courtesy) that can result in wipes, hurt feelings, etc. Not much that can be done about player attitudes.

I can honestly say that I sigh with relief when a tank does a big pull in dps stance, at least it gives me something to do.
