Also, Transportation is easier now. Each Home Point Crystal/Survival Manual you touch allows you to teleport to previously visited Home Point Crystals/Survival Manual Books.

And /Lockstyle (glamour) is awesome. Just place the gear you want to look like your wearing in a "Gear Set" found in the "macros" menu.

Are they still a thing? Or is trust party and killing mobs with exp bonus the way to go?

Any recommended class? I'm deciding between war, rdm, Sam

Fields of Valor are a supplement to Experience Rings; use them both along with Signet, food, Kupofried and the experience boost from Rhapsodies of Vana'diel (1st few missions Key Item).

The recommended job for most people, IMO, would probably WAR or WHM. I only say this because, eventually, you'll need to undergo a Trial of sorts at LV 70 that pits you against someone who is equal to you in every way job-wise. These 2 jobs have proven to be among the most easy to complete this Trial with, not counting BST or any other jobs since they're expansion jobs. RDM was considered among the hardest to complete this as. I should know; I went through this Trial several times as this job and it wasn't easy to do!

The only way to go past LV 70 is by doing this Trial. By now, it's easier to get gear and such, but keep this in mind when picking your job; you'll want one that you're most comfortable with in a pinch!

The books still help a lot! They also changed it so that you can set the book to automatically restart once you complete it, so you don't have to run back to "grab" the book again. Just keep fighting mobs, and you're good.

I don't have much advise on the classes, but I will say that it's pretty easy to get them up to at least level 50 to see what you'll want to continue with Once you get a good pack of Trusts, RoE and rhapsodies all squared away, leveling becomes much easier.

long story short, i wanna play ffxi again to get the story done.

I stopped in the midst of wotg. not sure if i want to reuse my existing char (cant remember login or any details for that matters) or create new one.

If i want to create a new character, how much hassle do I have to go through to finish rhapsodies? I understand you ca have NPC parties now? Will i get access to that at lvl10?

and what is a recommended all purpose class? rdm still the way to go?

I'm playing FFXI right now actually. Instead of continuing my BLM I decided to lvl NIN and SAM from scratch.

In a single night I got WAR (for subjob) from 1-24. In another night I got NIN from 1-18.

Thanks to Trusts (npcs that can be used in your party), Records of Eminance (like a challenge log, but can repeat after completion instead of every day), and the various Rhapsodies which increase EXP gain by 30% each (among other things like unlock a 4th trust and unlock subjob)... you can hit 99 pretty quickly methinks.

u can use trusts for the lvl 70 LB , too weak now

I just did 1-25 on WHM in just under 1 hour, with 4 trusts (one being Kupofried), 1 Rhapsody key item and the standard conquest points EXP ring. So leveling is really really really quick

I was gonna post that, since I was surprised no one mentioned it.

Word of caution/advice to anyone who has not been around the game since Trust NPCs and the ease of travel. You may have heard about Abyssea or played it, and found out how easy it is to level and do things back then... forget about that, because you're going to be absolutely lost if you start playing now lol. The game has made huge changes in the last couple years, alongside those things like Trust NPCs, which is saying a lot due to the massive changes that happened before with Abyssea. Home Points, for example, are now treated like Aetheryte here. You can teleport between the HP crystals for free if it's within the area/city or for a small fee if it's not. If you played during (at least) the golden age of Sky, imagine being in San d'oria at a home point. Next thing you know, you're in Ru'aun Gardens (Sky). In addition to that, they added HP crystals to almost every zone and "dungeon" area which you need to activate to use. It's an absolute dream. It'll take you forever to go through all the additional content lol. I've never been so intimidated by my return to a game I thought I knew very well. I gave it an honest go last night though, and I have to say... I'm really liking it again.
