First thing is its not like there is a lined number of monsters there are more islands than there are parties so you would only be camping on another party because you want to watch the world burn. While I agree there needs to be a reason to go to other islands. A claim system would be in no way benefit to this. Just imagine if you run into a party that's on your server and you wer getting all the mobs before them then they lash out against you in some way on your server.
Claim system = toxic player base.
You can't do anything about those knows they are the same ones who afk in the sky.
My point is, the "slowdown" ratio between RNG and weekly caps are ridiculously humongous. It'll take weeks to gear up a job with Esoterics to meet current standards (Void Ark and Savage can hasten the progression but the latter is obviously not for everyone) and even longer if you plan on upgrading that gear to i210. On the other hand, with an organised PUG it won't take very long till you get your share of i210 gear, there are people on my server with half their equipment slots pinked out already.Eso's and Savage gear aren't affected by RNG. Once you get the drop, or accumulate your Eso's, you're done, that slot is filled until the next ilevel bump. RNG is it's own way of slowing down gear progression. They don't necessarily intend for players to spend all their time in Diadem. It's the player's decision to take the path of least resistance, which they always do, then complain that the easy path is the only path, when that's not the case.
So with that said, people who aren't using Diadem will get left behind and standards for activities like raids/trials will be raised due to this gear being readily available.
Which means people who can't keep up will either be twiddling their thumbs waiting for the next reset to come by or join in on the mainstream trend of the year just so they don't "fall behind on the times".
I've crossed out Alex NM as an option altogether, for one its i190, and for two anyone can roll anything they like, as many times as they want. In the end, its just Diadem with playground game level adversity (except, nobody even wants to do it now for the very reason this topic is about).

I have yet to peruse the entirety of this thread, but so much this! One problem I have with diadem is that you can't kick leechers. I have lost so much 210 loot to leechers now, it's not funny. I *would* leave, but it's not fair for the legit players to lose a healer and make it harder to get loot just because someone else is leeching.
The inability to kick leechers or replace people who have bailed early is really a shame. This shouldn't be as much of an issue when using PF, but there should be some kind of solution for DF as well :\
That is the problem in a nutshell. Diadem isn't the problem rather previous content having crappy rewards or being gates too strictly. Eso should never have been gated weekly for ALL classes (no other game is like this, other games you change characters and bam your weeklys are unlocked). And same for savage, who's rewards are just terrible and horribly slow.

Raids and tomes are fine. Lookout works to keep playing and see how your character goes better.
The problem lies into Diadem and his brainless playstyle.
- If you want to clear a hardcore Raid you have to play well.
- If you want gear, enter Diadem.
Raiders are being called selfish, elitist and others adjectives. Now, a causal dungeon is breaking the balance to the opposite side. Hardcore raiders get achievement and rare items. In the other hand, an effortless dungeon drops the Best gear and a lot of players, who don't care about "savage gear", are playing a lot to get 210 items. Hypocrisy.
IMHO. Promoting the laziness and the effortless is not the right way to be a healthy game.
Well diadem is just fine. The trouble are the raid/savage contents, wich is only accessible to probably less than 5% of all players and also those who are there are totally against new players and its very toxic. Diadem maybe is probably accesible up to 15%.
Ummmm.... I appreciate your sentiment. I understand there are excellent players who are opting out of raiding for their own personal reasons. But if you're beating Savage content, you're a good player. Possibly not the best. But you're damn good. No one's getting carried in Savage right now.pss: oh one last thing, being good player is not tie to complet savage too, complet savage means you do have a team for do it or are dedicated to do it.
i know good player that are litterally not interested by the raid of FF14, why? because it's toxic.... plus when you have done years of raiding, you are looking for something that will be new and challenging, it's not always raiding!
