Thanks for wiping out pvp queues again SE

3.1 brought with it Void ark, Diadem and hunts. Not only that, there have been no additions made to PvP at all. Basically, give people a mean to earn easy gear and they'll flock to it, even if it's not fun.

What's truly sad is that the pvp queues finally began to feel decent with the arrival of Seize. Overnight, patch 3.1 killed them. Also when I do join a match now, its a 8v8v8.

I just CAN'T get my head around how incompetent SE is towards PvP in their game. PvP is GREAT in ff14, I truly believe that. Yet its held back by a plethora of little things that could easily be addressed. For example, why they haven't accommodated Seal Rock and Carteneau flats so they both can host all modes adequately still baffles me. Variety would be nice. Wouldn't be rocket science either. I could address more points but I'm running out of characters here.

I'll end this rant with this: We're not a hard crowd to please. Give us cool locales, vanity items, quicker queues and simple modes on which we can fight each other over and we'll be happy.

P.-S.: Stop promising changes years in advance (i.e. WD and queue changes)

She's not wrong though. It really is unacceptable that SE does nothing (and I wish that were an exaggeration) at all to fix any PvP problems.

The PvP community have been complaining about que times for over a year. We've been practically begging SE to do SOMETHING to even attempt to fix them, and they don't even bother to post a response. The only thing we've heard out of the PvP Dev team is that they are "looking into" the possibility of removing GC restrictions. That was months ago. Since then we've had nothing. No follow up. No updates. No alternatives. Nothing. At the very least they could have modded the DF PvP roulette. There's no excuse that que times for the roulette are often 3x worse than direct ques, and why is there no Wolves Den roulette?

I don't think anyone's really asking a lot out of the Dev team at this point. We're not expecting massive sweeping reforms to happen that will revolutionize the PvP scene. We just want them to put the bare minimum of effort into maintaining the game mode, otherwise it might as well not be there.

I know it's normal for people to jump directly onto new content. Problem is that, in this case, people will still be doing those months later because the new contents are grind fests that take a long time. Still, there's incentive in doing so because getting more loot, fun or not, gives off a better feeling of progression.

Seal rock is already 5 months old now. People, even if they like pvp, will move on because things change each 7-8 months. There's little incentive left because the novelty is long gone. Giving out more pvp exp will solve nothing.

What they do and keep doing though is promise things way in advance just to keep dangling carrots in our faces. I wouldn't be surprised if only one person was in charge of the pvp aspect of ff14.

So at least give some flavor to PVP from time to time so it can compete with the new stuff a bit better instead of letting it die patch after patch.

I'm afraid with every new patch, PvP will die for a short while. Unless the patch is PvP oriented. Too bad for us who mainly play the game for pvp.

sadly pvp isnt popular in this game (obviously), so making pvp for big groups feels like a waste.(keep it in tough) small group pvp would be better for the queues. I mean imagine small 2v2,3v3 or even 1v1 arena's being added and how you might get trough a queue within minutes. and yes i know about the imbalance of the jobs in pvp but still having imbalanced pvp is still a better activity then waiting in queue for an hour that locks you out of doing other content aswell in my book.

Heck now that I think about it even with the imbalance of healers ect in pvp give us a pvp arena in wich people can stand at the sides and watch and just hang out while people challange eachother and compete over nothing. whats the point to this ? fun... maby ? most mmo's i know where u can duel even if its imba as hell people still do it probably because they like it right.

That's true... but in one way I feel like this was a self fulfilling prophecy on SE's part. It seems to go like this: PvP is not popular on FFXIV -> so FFXIV Dev teams are less committed to releasing new content for it regularly or fix it's problems, -> which makes for a lack luster PvP experience which is plagued with problems and gets stale quickly, -> which turns the player base off of PvP, -> which makes PvP less popular, -> which means the Dev team less committed to releasing new content... etc. In a big circle.

Let's face it, SE has never put the proper effort into the PvP game modes to make them popular. Wolves Den was a joke. The Wolf Marks system is a insufficient. The ranking system and point allocation is inefficient. Frontlines brought some improvements and a new game mode, but they came WAY too late. After that we only got Slaughter which most people don't even count because it was basically the same game mode only crammed into the middle of the map. Both FL and Slaughter were plagued with terrible que times and balancing issues which have persisted since the very dawn of the PvP, and after those two we got nothing, literally nothing, right up until HW came out. After that we finally got Seize and ONE new map, but it has the same problems that plagued FL and there have been no updates since except to the Exp system which should have been updated on DAY 1 of Seize's roll out at the latest to accommodate the new rank cap.

TL;DR. The point is, when you look at the history of PvP in FFXIV it's really no wonder that PvP is not all that popular. If you set yourself up to fail, you will. It's that simple.

People say pvp is unpopular yet look at this way

Savage was created for the 1%, a whole team dedicated to making this special content

Pvp again you could say is for the 1%, yet we get nothing

If they at least addressed us the q issue (gc restrictions) and gave us a few modes with the current map who knows how popular pvp will become.

Savage will always remain for the 1%

What surprises me most about PvP is that Square seems to create all this new content for it occasionally and release it in hopes of breathing life into it...

...only to completely abandon it a month later.

Square, if you're just going to abandon each mode after you release it, why bother at all? Secure has been dead for almost a year now and no effort has been made to change or fix it. I cannot remember the last time I played a 72 man secure match.

Same thing for Slaughter. The second you released seize, slaughter died and you made no effort to revive it. As much as I dislike slaughter, there should be some method of being able to go back to the other game modes to play them. Make a weekly highlight game mode option - offer more experience and wolf marks for each of the game modes a week. Switch it up; allow each game mode to shine for a week.

It isn't hard, Square, but you leave us in the dark for months and nobody says anything to us. It's disheartening as a true PvPer.
