I'm assuming he just got the well/we'll mixed up. But yeah, that mount did cost £13.80, it would be nice for it to fly. It's useful to me on the land because damn do I love the Odin theme, but in the HW zones where it doesn't fly? Sad Au Ra is sad.
White Mage ~ Scholar ~ PaladinBoi if you got kicked for the same thing in over 20 duties I strongly suggest you think hard on whatever the hell it is you're doing
As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

Got a feeling we will end up seeing a new mount that will fly in cash shop instead of having Sleipnir fly. DX

And the last one is Odin as the origin of the Santa Claus flying reindeer myth. There are various myths of Odin and his ghostly hunt traveling across the sky, sometimes bringing gifts, sometimes bringing death. The enemies of the recent Witcher games, the Wild Hunt, is based on the same myth. So is the old cowboy legend of "ghost riders". Sleipnir is probably one of the oldest flying horse myths remembered. As for within Final Fantasy, Zoner has the link for that.
So which Final Fantasy games have YOU been playing? As stated, Final Fantasy features Odin riding Sleipnir running through the sky.

dude... we are in a world where you can fly on a broomstick. under such circumstances I would think all the primal mounts should be able to fly as well? IT'S MAGIC !!The don't fly because they have "special value", they fly because it makes sense. In Japanese mythology Kirin is sometimes depicted as being so benevolent that it didn't want to harm the grass by stepping on it, so it instead would "fly" by walking on a cloud or walk only on water. Of course, Kirin has never been depicted with wings (and I think it would have been cooler to see it on a cloud, like the Kinto'un from Dragon Ball), but I'll let that slide on artistic license.
It also makes sense for the Magitek to fly because it's a machine. It's entirely reasonable to expect it to be able to fly or at least be modified to fly when you already have a world full of things like Airships.
so sad to see Behemoth and Fenrir not able to fly...

It also had 8 legs and was meant to "slip" Odin between the heavens and underworld. Hence some of the depictions of it running across the sky due to it being faster than any other mount. Although I think the most it had in FF series was 6 legs currently just 4.
Or they could just make it leap like it did in 7As stated, Final Fantasy features Odin riding Sleipnir running through the sky.

I know its crisis Core but that was a nice visual upgrade to the original.

The primal mounts will be able to fly soon too, their excuse being they're made of aether. The broom makes sense because you would expect a witch's broom to be able to fly. It makes no reasonable sense for a behemoth or Fenrir* to suddenly fly. Making them fly would be a lot like making Spider-man** fly just because some other Marvel characters can. It might all be fantasy, but they've still built up certain expectations that one should be cautious about throwing out the window "just because".
* I don't recall Fenrir ever being able to fly in Norse Mythology. I also don't remember him ever taking to the skies in FFXI (he walked on the ground similar to Carbuncle and Titan unless something changed after I quit) or any other FF game. Even if he did, it doesn't matter because technically the Golden Saucer mount is simply a wolf of the same species as Fenrir and not the beast himself.
** That brief period when he had the powers of Captain Universe doesn't count!!
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
