I guess the way to deal with it would be to make em available again, but at like 1000x the cost. So let's say the CD with the minions cost £50 during the promotional period, to now get the minion would cost £50'000. Would that allow the minions to be bought without trivialising the promotional period?

Conversely, people thinking that a company should trivialize special promotional items that are one of the few special things in this game, and undermine their own sales strategies by setting a precedent that the items that come with their merchandise can be had for cheaper if you wait long enough, just because players couldn't be bothered to take advantage of a promotion while it was available for several years or weren't around yet, are equally selfish.

Yes, I agree that getting things for cheaper than people who are supporting the company is scummy, but that's not my argument here. I'm only advocating that items should be available to everyone by some means.

The whole point is when something is sold under the pretense of "get it now, it is limited edition and will be rare and exclusive!" there are a lot of people that buy it for the rare and exclusive.
'Fair' for the person that didn't get an exclusive item is getting screwed over for the collectors that bought it originally

It also adds to the game, seeing rare impossible to get things from time to time on other players

To make it clear, I'm speaking about the Bahamut and Dalamud here (and any other minion attached to the SE store should they "run out"), not Cait Sith, that minion should stay locked to pre-order exclusiveness. But the OST minion... absolutely not. Attach the codes again, same price, same item, done.

Exactly this. It's not as if SE is being asked to gift the minions for free. Sell these ones for $10 or even $20 ea...or at least include them with the soundtrack that is still for sale. The fact that it doesn't even come with the product any more is silly.
