Yeah, some cool sites would be nice. A roof top restaurant where you can sit in a chair, eat food, and watch the... airships take off or w.e other cool things you can come up with.

How about this one: A real gladiator arena, where gladiators can put on shows for us!

1 Gladiator from each LS can be chosen to represent their LS in the weekly gladiator wars!

Coerthas comes close in a few respects, but if this is the view we get from the ground, I do hope the top floors of Ishgard offer a better perspective.

An actual Colosseum is something I'd like to see someday. We've been told to wait patiently for PVP aspects, but in sandbox games they're usually as bare-bones as it gets; now might actually a good time to start an "Aspects of PVP the Players Want" thread just to get the ideas in one before they start working on it in earnest.

Apologies for the double post; but wanted to share an image that made me rather hopeful for Ishgard's aesthetic, a topic we brushed recently.

The majority of times I go out to Coerthas, it's pretty windy and I don't get a very good view of Ishgard at all - but this time I ran by at a rather opportune moment and got a screenshot at a time of day that allowed for a nice, clear view into the city through the horseshoe arches.

The stonework is a lot more modern than expected (Gothic and Middle Eastern influences) - but the big thing is that it seems to have a lot of lights metal in there; perhaps an area like one seen in the demo wouldn't be so far-fetched.

With Airships confirmed for 1.19, I very much hope that the Devs give a little preview of Ishgard soon.

The guarded door locks seen in the dungeon preview give me a little hope, at least.

I've been wondering what those were. There are a ton of these things - I imagine that like the wreckage of the crashed chocobo carriage in Ul'dah that they'll be involved in a sidequest.

There's a tree-stump out in Gridania that has all sorts of decorations laid out on top of it that I've had the same curiosity about. (EDIT: It's a moogle summoning stump!? Why are Limsans not told this!?"
The things that really make me go hmmm in coerthas is the "Umbra" atherite gate up around feather gorge.

But yea there a bunch of little odd things like these stones scattered around the game.

Even some really nifty stuff hidden away in the bowels of the shroud. the amber stones, those weird pulsing disco trees, the ruins north of last hold, and if you go poking around south the sylph village you can even find what appears to be the remains of a imperial Juggernaut being reclaimed by the forest.

Of course you have to be almost suicidal or at least partially insane to go see some of this stuff in "person".

Though i think the most jarring discovery i made on my wanderings was the pit of r60-80 undead that is almost Directly below camp horizon. Just let that sink in for a second, while your merrily doing your thing at camp be it behesting, crafting or running leve's not 15 feet below your character is a pit of things that would decimate you before you could blink. Hell that whole tunnel system in horizon is just chocked full of things that i'm really glad cant agro from below lol.

But any who, Sorry for the derail of the thread Mr mouse.

My guess would be that any parts of Ishgard that existed when the new dev team took over are now being re-worked. Ishgard looks really cool from the outside, but so does Ul'dah, honestly. I'm with you all: I've wanted desperately to get in to Ishgard since closed beta. But I have to admit to myself that if it's anything like the other cities in the game, the inside probably would have been a letdown compared to the outside.

However, the good news is that we have a new development team working on a zone redesign that sounds kind of awesome (to me, at least). With this team in place, Ishgard might actually end up being even cooler on the inside than it is on the outside, which is what we all want. The zone redesign is going to take a long time, however. So the question is, will they wait until the redesign to introduce Ishgard, or will they open it up before then? I honestly have no idea.

I've been below Horizon looking for Hippos, but got torn to shreds before I could find them; place is freakin' brutal. No apologies necessary, though. Whether talking about hidden areas we'd like to visit, or the particular quest locations that look attractive and mysterious until you actually get to their quest, it's still on-topic in its own way: the types of things we find interesting and aesthetic are still being brought up.

I did find a nice place to craft in Ul'dah that's pretty nice, as well. 'The Gold Court' as seen from 'The Royal Promenade' is gorgeous. I hope Ishgard has something similarly serene; if the OP goes unfulfilled.

I've been mulling over this, as well. With airships coming in 1.19 (Optimistic release in August), one can assume that Ishgard would have to be opened by default if it was, indeed, a dock hub. Then again, perhaps they could get away with just activating the rental chocobos, and opening all docks except Ishgard. It all really depends on how much Ishgard emulates Jeuno; Is it the major hub of flight activity, or is it just another stop on the route? We do know that it's the chocobo hot-spot - is a license required to ride one? And if so, from whom? Them?

It could all go either way, at this point, I think.

Good idea but like many others said, there are more important things to fix now.

    Would be nice though!

Aye, I don't disagree in the least. I just hope that before development wraps up on Ishgard (which seems a ways off, with any luck) we can get a little bit of a following behind wanting a little of this aesthetic style and something fun to remember the origin of.

Honestly, after seeing the Tavern thread, I'd love to see these two ideas come to fruition together - have a commemorative bar built in our new central city for the weary travelers of Year One to put their feet up, enjoy the progress, and play some mini-games while we tell future adventurers of the Eorzea That Was and the rough times past.

Thanks for leaving a comment! ^u^

    As always, pre-apologies for double-post.

HAPPY 50 LIKES, HYPOTHETICAL ISGHARDIAN LANDMARK!

I figured I'd stick to my word and tend to the thread a bit since nobody's officially shot me down (yet.) My hopes are renewed for this now that the news of a complete map re-design is coming out.

I'm still gunning for the wrought iron aesthetic and a sort of metaphorical "FFXIV Release Survivor's Lounge /slash/ memorial" thing pretty hard. The library and tavern threads were pretty interesting to think about in this context, as well.

I rewrote the OP, added a lazy-friendly TLDR version, and made it less ... text-wall-ey. Any thoughts, suggestions, ideas, or comments, new generation of forum-active-people?
