Give it time Kat , I think in the next 3.2 this new recipes are gonna play big part of new gear or whatever.

My opinion has always been that they should make it that specialist recipes *can* be crafted by non-specialists, but have a massively different difficulty/quality required. In other words, only specialists should reach 100% HQ on the latest master recipes, while other should average closer to 20-30%.
doop doop
As far as I know there is no MMO that lets you raise no more than 3 crafts.
Day 1 living with specialist only recipe
Fine, just fine, with 3 specialist in my hand BSM, WVR, LTW my goal is just self sufficient for mats, and results so far is good, i still making a good money even without ARM. just dont implement specialist only on non star item next time SE.
Yeah, I think specialist-only crafts are a terrible idea all-around. Just as a general concept I think they'd be bad even if they were handled in the best way possible, and they're pretty much a catastrophe when you apply them to this game's crafting updates, where some crafts regularly get huge updates full of highly-desirable recipes, and others very frequently end up getting one or two recipes per patch that are only useful as precursors to recipes for other classes.
The impression that I get from specialization is that the original incarnation was a failed attempt to allow casual crafters to craft on even footing with omnicrafters, and when it turned out that it was nowhere near adequate for that purpose, they decided that the important thing was for people to use specializations, rather than the important thing being to give casual crafters a way to make high-end items without leveling every craft.
In my opinion, the original goal for Specializations was a good one - people should be able to craft high-end items on a single profession without having to invest the ridiculous amount of time and gil to become an omnicrafter (and speaking of omnicrafting, devs take note: The gap between casual crafters and omnicrafters just got tripled in length, as anyonee can still be an omnicrafter so long as they're willing to level and gear two alts).
Additions to Specialist crafting should have been in that arena: Give Specialist souls large boosts to Craftsmanship, Control, and CP, so that single-class Specialists with no melded gear are on par, stats-wise, with non-specialized crafters who have spent the millions of gil to meld themselves out. Give Specialist-only duplicates of new recipes, that have lower Difficulty and require less Quality, or that require fewer materials, or that have greater yields of potions/consumables.
In any case, ruining self-sufficiency seems to me to be destroying one of the absolute most fun things about crafting in this game. Rather than specialist-only recipes pushing me to participate more in the game's market and to become interdependent with other crafters, my reaction to these new recipes is, in rough order of preference:
1) Stop crafting entirely, unless-and-until specialist-only crafted items stop being a thing.
2) Level all crafting classes to 50, and three specialist classes to 60, on two alt characters.
3) Choose only Specializations that have absolutely no cross-class Specialist interdependence whatsoever.
4) Find one or two people who cover the Specializations I won't have, and deal exclusively with them, not participating in the broader economy of specialist-only items whatsoever.
5) Actually use the system as intended, and buy items that my specializations don't cover to craft items that my specializations cover to sell to people who don't have the specializations I do.
In other words, I'd do just about anything possible to not deal with crafting interdependence, and my Step One on that plan is actually to just stop crafting entirely, because that's how much this leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

They just need to buff up that Soul Crystal with some big edge!Give Specialist souls large boosts to Craftsmanship, Control, and CP, so that single-class Specialists with no melded gear are on par, stats-wise, with non-specialized crafters who have spent the millions of gil to meld themselves out. It's just so hard for me to do, since I have always been in love with crafting in this game. *sigh*
But if S-E continues to push on us like this, I might just drift away from it...

Give us more specialist recipes please! Since you can specialize in everything on one character now (with a little extra work) I see no reason why not.
Maybe I'll be able to make something that's good for more than glamour with my weaver specialization next.
I honestly do not understand why people complain about this. The biggest complaint I see about this is that people want to be 'self-sufficent', well you still can be? None of these specialist recipes are required in any way, shape, or form, for anything. Closest thing is the 1 culinarian recipe but it's not even that great.
So you might actually have to buy a couple things with gil because you're too lazy to cap red scrips so you can get a soul of the specialist on everything, boo hoo. If you're even a half decent crafter you should have millions of gil at this point anyway. I love this because I have stuff I can sell with limited competition.![]()

If I understand this system, you can only hold 3 specialist souls at any one time. This means that when you trade in your red scrips for a soul of the crafter and then exchange it for a new specialist soul, you'll lose one of your previous specializations (specialist souls). You could trade for it back in the future by getting another soul of the crafter, but that'll mean another 480 red scrips. So you might actually have to buy a couple things with gil because you're too lazy to cap red scrips so you can get a soul of the specialist on everything, boo hoo. If you're even a half decent crafter you should have millions of gil at this point anyway. I love this because I have stuff I can sell with limited competition.
It's possible to cycle through specializations, but until red scrip materials become more readily available on the market board, the scrips themselves will still be your main source of materials.
Just ask yourselves... Would we really have all these new recipes if it wasn't for the specialisation system? What reason would they have to make ilvl 185 gear if there is already ilvl 180 crafted gear available? Yes, 180 is meldable, 185 is not. But instead of making new DOW/DOM gear, they could have made the ilvl 180 gear more available (changing the materials needed for the recipes is all I can think of). They didn't. Instead they created new recipes that need easily available mats, BUT gated behind specialisation.
I say be happy with what we got. It's a new market with a lot of new possibilities. So again, would we even have these opportunities without the current specialisation system?
@Foxy. No, you cannot have more than 3 specialisations at any time.
