I was never really taught about it, I just knew that the way I was seeing stuff was different than other people in my classes, luckily I was fortunate to have had a teacher that pulled me aside and was willing to work with me and work their lesson plans around to help me in that regard, but in health/science etc nah, for us it was never even skimmed over at all, Not necessarily saying ignorance should completely exempt people from anything, I just can kind of understand people not really understanding the problems (and sometimes physical pain) that arise from the issue at hand. (I'm prone to sever migraines if I try to strain myself too much with layered coloration) =) I'm glad theat your school went above and beyond with it though, it's always good to see

I haven't noticed any difference in the AOEs. O_o It looks the same as it always has.

OH YES. The only part about this I found in the patch notes is
[2.0] The appearance of action indicators has been adjusted to more accurately display the area of effect for attacks.
...which I'm really not convinced accurately describes the change. If this is what the description is about, it's confusing, because I don't think it has anything to do with accuracy, it's simply a different visual effect. One that's much harder to see in quite a few cases - most prominent I can remember is the More than a Feeler guildhest, because that was where I first noticed how I could barely see it at all.
In any case, they really should leave things like this as options, instead of just replacing one with the other.

    Greetings,

The display for area of effects has been changed in Patch 3.1 so that the range of attack is more accurately displayed.

Depending on your playing environment, you may have a different opinion on the color and brightness for the new area of effect display. We would like you to first try various content, and then give us more detailed feedback on when and why the displays are difficult to see so we can relay that information over to the dev. team. Thanks!

    Ground Texture Appreciation Day

I think we should hold an annual ground texture appreciation day. We need to make it clear that, and I hope the person responsible for ground textures is listening, we think the ground in this game looks great, and whoever is responsible for it is doing a fantastic job. The ground texture person isn’t getting the credit deserved, and we’re sorry.

It’s rough when your work is constantly getting covered up, I know, we all do. I feel we could accomplish so much, though, if we could just have a dialogue before increasing the telegraph transparency.

Places where I notice it can be more difficult to see are areas with a lot of grass or other ground details. Also it can be a bit harder to make out if there are player AOE's going on like the bard fire circle, etc. Some ground it can blend in with a bit like the last boss in Saint Mocianne's Arboretum (the one that tends to cause issues is if one of the adds aoe is under the boss). They also tend to blend together if there are a lot of overlapping aoe's like occurs with some of the dragonskin maps.

So glad it wasn't just me. XD I saw this thread after healing one of the new dungeons and had no idea this was a thing. Even my tank (who used to stand in Snowcloak AoE's without realizing it because his eyes are so bad) didn't notice anything. I'm pretty sure I got hit with one trying to see the difference the next run. If most of the issue is in the color leaning too far into the red spectrum, seems like it would be easy to just alter it slightly or offer a toggle.

These new indicators are not friendly for colorblind people. They are too dim and blend in with the ground. We would not like to try various content first, we would like to be able to see the indicators at all.

I would also like to add that the instance in which it's difficult to see is irrelevant. If anyone, anywhere has a problem seeing the indicator in any instance, you need to change it. What's the point of having an accessible indicator if you use a color and tone that makes it inaccessible to individuals who don't have a choice as to what their eyes can and cannot see?

I like the cleaner versions of the reticles, but I like the old "thicker, brighter" lines much better. They are vastly more visible on floors that are of the same color, where red reticle, on a red floor is something of a pain to see, and I can only imagine what its like for color blind people. I'd say a way to toggle between the 2, or maybe even an option to switch the colors would be improvements in my book.

FWIW, so far I like it myself. However, as others have noted, it can be troublesome in content where the telegraph's contrast with the floor is very low (but it's not like this is anything new... Shiva EX. Now Thordan's Reign, even though it has custom telegraphs. Etc.)
