It's also about 1000x more compelling than the Crystal Tower ever was, since it doesn't need to force any parallels to earlier games. It sorta threw the baby out with the bathwater, though, since this "Void" seems almost entirely disconnected from the one we got the mapping achievement for.

I suppose the simplest explanation is that the Allagans didn't know nearly as much about the Void as they thought they did, but I'm still kind of confused at where Scathach fits into the Void hierarchy if we're still meant to think of the Cloud of Darkness as the undisputed top.
