If you got through the sirius bosses without knowing the mechanics it was only because someone else in the party was doing them. The 2nd and 3rd bosses have their tricks that will cause you to wipe if you don't know what you're doing.

Yeah, it was the same for my first run there. Rather than zerg the boss though, we just killed all the adds as they appeared. Didn't even feel like it was particularly wrong; only found out about using the gels to plug the holes afterward when I was reading about the patch online. I was like, "oh. That does make more sense."
