It's right there in the Gifting information when you choose it as an option.

    Gift Code Guidelines

By purchasing a gift code, you accept and agree to all stipulations outlined in this document. Please be aware that this service cannot be used without agreeing to these terms.

    Gift Code Overview
・Gift codes can be purchased for the sole purpose of giving another player a gift.
・The use of gift codes for any activity relating to, or suggesting the trade of real-world money, in-game currency, or in-game virtual items is strictly prohibited. Action may be taken against users found to be in violation of the service agreement.

    Prohibited Activities

Gift codes are meant to be used solely for the enjoyment of FINAL FANTASY XIV players. As such, the sale of gift codes for either real money or in-game currency or items, as well as any other real money trading activity, is strictly prohibited per the FINAL FANTASY XIV User Agreement. Square Enix cannot be held responsible for any adverse actions that occur as the result of violating the user agreement.

...which is why I can't understand how people still get away with selling Eternal Bond items in the party finder.

Are you talking the cash shop gear? How would you sell these since they are linked to your account?

    I'm missing something here I think :X

    Edit: Forgot about gifting.

You can buy it for someone out of the kindness of your heart and gift it to them. Accepting ANYTHING in game for it is "Real Money Trading" and a strict offence resulting in a ban.

I doubt this person talking about gifting out of the kindness of their heart they most likely want to buy the outfit then sell it in game for gil.

I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Technically against the rules but SE looks the other way because they still get paid.

This technically is NOT Real Money Trading. Even though you purchased the gift code with real money, you are still trading an item in game for something else in game.

Regardless of what they say in their policy.

As others mentiones against ToS. Now if you recieved the item in game you could trade that for gil. Which is why people got away with making millions off the ceremony items.
