This was mentioned as a likely thing to happen as far as 1.0 all it means is no one crafter is going to domninate everything. It was fine in XI im sure it will be okay here too. you'll just work with other crafters and strike out deals<3

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
Is that <3 at the end of your text supposed to make up for all the time, effort, and gil that players put into leveling all crafts for the purpose of being self sufficient?
You all are kidding yourselves if you think those specialist components are not going to continue turning up in recipe after recipe, even mutliple expansions from now. Going forward, before long the list of items we can create without the "help" of others is going to be longer than the list of items we can create by ourselves.
I kind of agree and understand the purpose. On my server there is one person who pretty much took over the whole market. Anything that sells high he is in there selling and if you try to sell the same item he just undercuts till everyone stops and raise the price super high. He must play all the time and watch the market all the time. I think this helps the market too get prices up on some stuff.
I think the problem is they changed the game/rules of the game. It upsets some people and I get it too.. Some people spent all this time leveling and gearing and want to be self sufficient.
I think the difference in FFXI is it was hard to craft at a high level or even get there and most were only going to bring a few jobs up anyway. It was nice too because every job had something they made people needed and was more balanced.
I think the issues is too many recipes require things from other crafts too make in FFXIV. It is not like GSM recipe requires only things from GSM, having to get things from other crafts if you dont have them could get expensive too and still make it hard to profit.
I think the real problem they have is making sure enough people specialize in all crafts. In desyth very very few did alchemy on our server and when those relic items were needed that required desyth item from all crafts it was impossible to get the ones for alchemy..
I kind of get both sides but I really think this maybe a good thing if SE can balance it out right.

If someone's willing to invest that much time into making sure they're on top of the market at all times, leveling an alt (or two) so that they still have access to all the specialties isn't even going to make them flinch.I kind of agree and understand the purpose. You'll get a brief window (since they likely have the funds to power level an alt's DoH to 60 in no time, so getting a battle class to 50 to access Ishgard is the only thing that will slow them down) where they're slightly limited, but then it'll be back to the status quo again. Actually, even worse, because now they have access to all the recipes via their alts, where anyone who already didn't have the time to compete with them is now restricted to three specialties.
Probably true. There are always those that will play the system. But you only quoted part of what I said. I kind of understand both sides of this.If someone's willing to invest that much time into making sure they're on top of the market at all times, leveling an alt (or two) so that they still have access to all the specialties isn't even going to make them flinch.

I mean what is the real answer to this?
People want crafting to be worth something.
I think part of the problem is everything is not need or handed to you in FFXIV.
In FFXI alchemy had prism powders, sneak oils because people needed them.
Food was used by all classes in FFXI, I barely see anyone take food in FFXIV except crafters.
Carpenter could make arrows in FFXI because they needed to buy them, in this game they are unlimited.
In FFXI most the time no matter what level or what craft there was something you could make sell to make money or at least break even. In FFXIV there is little worth anything and everyone fighting to sell the same thing.
People can say what ever they want aobut what SE is doing here but what is the answer? how do you fix it?
