Cash shop and the situation with the game.

The majority of the items in the cash shop are seasonal gear that everyone had a chance of earning for free. They're giving people who missed the event an opportunity to acquire these items, but at a cost. I don't see anything wrong with that. And besides seasonal gear, there's.. The odin mount? One mount out of like, the million others that are currently in the game? I don't think the Odin mount even has flying capabilities. It sounds like you're making a giant fuss out of nothing. S.E has handled their cash shop VERY delicately and responsibly.

Take a look at other MMOs cash shops, then take a look at this one. There is absolutely nothing wrong with how Squares handling their shop right now.

Just wanting to say that while odin trial doesn't have much worthy reward from a gameplay perspective, it gives many insights and is really valuable from a lore perspective.

You're a decade too late for that to be the drive to do something in an MMO. You must be dreaming of an age when "RPG" still meant "RP" and people actually cared about the fake world they chose to live in - not just see it as a means to get more carrots on more sticks. I agree with you. I dream of those days, too. I enjoy the Odin fight and its story (and its gear!) but you're hard pressed to find anyone doing Odin - even a few weeks after its release. Yet, thanks to Kirin (and other flying ponies) I still see people doing Garuda through Shiva to this very day, everyday.

some people have even argued the sub rates of cable and sattelite TV and these naysayers still don't get it.
a forinstance would be you have basic cable/satellite but you want to watch a premium movie on pay per view. do you call your cable/sattelite provider and tell them "hey I pay my subscription I should get this free"

Odin was the only primal of 2.5 meaning it is the main primal, but I guess you may have meant it wasn't a main part of the patch?

Gotta love the people who defend the development team spending 5 minutes applying player models to Odin's mount and selling it on the cash shop for $30 (AUD, half the price of an AAA game).

Actually my bad, not even 5 minutes. I've just recalled that Odin scales to the player that lasted defeated him in the FATE, so no work was put it into it at all apparently. I mean, other than adding it to the cash shop.

I don't feel entitled to anything other than the game content while the game is not undergoing maintenance.

I feel disgruntled about putting a price tag on a service that used to be free. This isn't exclusive to Square Enix. I have a long list of things that used to be free, then got price tags and subsequently got cut out of my life like a cancer. What's funny to me is how many posts say "It's just seasonal gear you missed" which as I said - they used to give out for free (even if you missed it!).

You want to slap Papalymo up on the shop? He was never in the game, never given out for free, never accessible by any other means. I'm fine with that. It's the same as any other DLC (that is to say, outrageously overpriced! jk sorta) and it is what it is. Would I prefer to get Papalymo for free? Sure, but that's their decision and it's my decision to not pay that fee to get him for myself. Anyone who thinks this is unfair is simply disconnected from the (sad state of affairs in the) video game industry.

TANGENT: It's funny how much I love collecting minions, but I rarely ever put one out cause I find them annoying in towns and they seem out of place in the wild. I only ever take them out while I'm fishing cause it seems like a fine time for an amusing little friend to wander around me and keep me company. Anyway, Pokemon has proved I want to catch them all, so putting a price tag on something I literally will never use is rude, but because I will never use it - I know it's not worth the price. This is an opinion tangent. I only bring it up to emphasize how the cash shop is filled up with things I "irrationally" want, but will rarely use. Cosplay Costumes and mounts are the same. I want them, but only so I can "collect them all!" Not for any sane, rational, useful reason.

*In my opinion* There's really only one major example of greed on the cash shop, and that's the wedding packages. 40$ for 2 people to get married with the platinum package is a bit outrageous.. And the the wording on the page is *very* lacking. I bought the 20$ package thinking that my partner wouldn't have to spend a dime, but it turns out that he had to spend 20$ as well. So.. I was more than a little disappointed when I discovered that if he didn't buy Platinum with me, that we both would be forced to use a lesser plan. Yay for spending 20$ just to get stuck with a 10$ plan or the free one...

Jokes on you because applying player models to Odin mount was already in the game - since Odin (FATE) takes on the appearance of the last player who killed him. That means Sliepnir was already designed to carry ANY race/gender before the game even launched. So they literally didn't even spend any time at all doing this.

oh yeah, those days are definitively over and lost. I just wanted to say that it was the point of this optional fight (or treated as such by the game).

Well, at least Ultima (the other optional primal at the time, even if thordan is coming with the same idea) had worthy gear so people kept going at it for a while. And still nowadays at it locks savage (yeah, some people still unlock savage even now).

Though I do hope to see what the Urth's gift quests will give in the future if they ever develop the story furthermore
