You'll have no problem with them locking all races behind the cash shop then, per example? That's just useless cosmetic stuff, you know. There is no situation. Nothing in that shop is mandatory. There's a difference between need and want.
When they start adding equipment to the store with actual stats and not cosmetic stuff (ps, yall would kvetched if the barding was in the store instead), *then*(and only then)is there a "problem ".
You guys all excited for that metallic purple dye man? I can't wait to bend over my wallet and paint my world.
XI - Darkshade - ShivaXIV - Shade Highwind - Figaro
Technically, even items with stats wouldn't be a problem because, well...they're not mandatory, are they? As long as the PvE content can be beaten with the equipment that's available outsite the cash shop, it's just optional. There is no situation. Nothing in that shop is mandatory. There's a difference between need and want.

PvP is synced anyway. So why not items with stats? And do mobs, quests and FATEs really have to give XP when you can just have leves unlocked at lvl 1? And teleportation really is optional what with airships and boats around.
I think giving everything you don't necessarily "need" a free pass for the cash shop isn't the best idea. But that's just silly ole me.
Rose-Wilde was actually saying that game shop is not a bad thing for the game, it can help the company to get more money, she was complaining about how SE is using the shop for some items that could have been easily in the game as a reward for content that people barely played and most likely barely will. Still, she is right when said that they didn't reinvested what gained from all they got, from the subs to the cash shop. They must start to employ more people, have team with western devs to raise and improve the level of their product and, even if i am the first fan of this game and would love to see it to actually step up, i cant see it happening with these devs team. To be honest, seeing what is happening around(many new MMO coming out soon, WoW new exp pack seems the good one this time), if they dont change the direction undertaken, this game will slowly lose subs
You wanna know why the cash shop doesn't bother me? Because I don't care.
I'm happy with what my monthly fee gets me and the cash shop thus far could not possibly be more (or should I say "less"?) inconsequential to my personal experience. "B-b-but you're just an SE white knight!" Why? Because I'm happy? Sorry, I don't know what to tell you. Maybe one day I'll feel the same, but I've still been managing to have a blast these past 5 months somehow.
You're free to feel the way you do and to voice your opinion. In fact, I would suggest that you keep being vocal about how you feel. However, don't come in here with all this "everyone should be outraged" nonsense because we're all different people with different tolerances and personally, I'm doing just fine.
Never been a fan of the cash shop.
Wether people are outraged or not it's a simple fact that they are cuttin content FROM the game to sell of individually (Odin mount being the prime example and Seasonal gear) Stuff that existed within the game that is not accessable to players without paying beyond your subscription fee. That's how I see it as a shameless cash grab and does nothing to further game development and if anything negatively effects game design when it comes to content creation as everything now has a "Can we sell it instead" pass.
I'll vote with my wallet and never purchase anything from the shop, sadly can't say this is true for others so the developers can and will continue to nickle and dime players as long as they applaud them for doing so.
Short term gain (Cash shop) instead of long term benifit (Longer lasting subscriptions due to the content that is existing in the game and used to promote activities within it and reward players for working towards goals) But instead of wanting the game to have more content people are content with what they get and even content with less value than they payed for previously.

Let he who has not bought from the cash shop cast the first Stone III.
When I see people complain about the cash shop I like to look them up on the lodestone and look at how many cash shop minions and things they have from it. Hypocritical people on the internet make me laugh. Love they forget you can look them up.

Shhhhh don't tell the cash shop haters this :P
SE's been doing cash shops for longer than there has been a cash shop. Buy this 60$ CD and get a minion, but this stuffed moogle or art book and get this other minion. Or the 'please bring out the fat cat stuffed animal, I'll pay for it' - people want things and they are willing to pay for it, SE sees this and of course they are going to take advantage of it. As long as people buy the items, there will be a cash shop.
While I personally haven't bought anything off the cash shop (though I am temped to buy a few of the minions), I have bought all of their CD's and I'm fine with it as long as they don't make the price something that's overly stupid for what you get out of it. Personally I didn't think the mount in the cash shop was worth the price, so I choose not to get it. Other feel it was worth it and got it. Its up to the consumer how they choose to spend their money, not us and not SE. They just put the items out there, if people choose to pay for it then the cash shop will continue.
