Cash shop and the situation with the game.

Who tells you they haven't gone even more crazy with the cash shop thanks to topics like this?

Din't you see what the other topic caused? Instead if 1 dress on the cash shop for 3.1, now we will have multiple ones.
If no one raised their concerns instead of only the Odin mount maybe we would have multiple ones and the most well designed ones in the cash shop just like it happened in WoW.

For those that keep talking about money or envy, i guess i need to make clear that right now i could buy all the cash shop items. I just choose not to support that kind of stuff.
But i'm also aware that many others can't afford the extra stuff and i defend this for them too.

If you can barely afford a P2P MMO, why are you paying for it rather than using that money for other important needs. It's sad to say but if you don't have money, what good are you to companies?

Yes, content which you find enjoyable. Content which is subjective to each and every person. Glamours are side content to you, but some players pay the same subscription as you to enjoy the glamour aspect primarily and there's nothing wrong with that. How would you feel if they locked your favourite aspect of the game behind cash? Saying 'we have enough content' is an empty argument.

And that you are more than happy to keep throwing money at them for stuff that would have been free of cost to you before.

If it doesn't make people quit, how it is bad for the game exactly?

Hell we have often reached a point with the current update and game model where players are sitting on their thumbs with little incentive to play the game asides the current raid tier. These items/minions/dyes/costumes could be used to encourage and reward players to keep playing. In turn reducing the ammount of players who sub for a update cycle and unsub until the next update (This is a big issue for them currently and the terrible padding of content shows it.)

So instead of aiming for quick cash grabs, they could use this content to help generate more consistent cashflow from their playerbase. But instead of do that they cut content from the game for quick gains.

It's short sighted and not looking after the welfare of the game. It gives pause to how invested in the future of the game the developers actually are or if they are just trying to get as much cash as fast as possible.

Bad for your envy for Sleipnir and Scions outfit maybe, but for the game ? err, nope.

Bad for the game? Yes, it loses some quality that you should ask for as a responsible customer (that's what we're doing). Bad for SE as a company (and that's what you're really meaning) by giving them some quick cash grabs? No, as long as people stay indulgent and keep buying everything.

GMs are just waiting for this to get slightly more toxic with the bickering back and forth and they'll close this thread and it'll fade to obscurity.

I warned people too about them trying the waters, and how they would keep trying to push it further if we left them. I was banned too for creating a reasonable thread against the cash shop (the first one I made about it, mind you, and I didn't get rude about it... quite the opposite, while insulting threads made by pro-cash shop folks kept running rampant), after almost a week having it running and with quite some likes from like-minded people that understood what I was explaining. I discussed it already with both GMs and support so I'm not discussing it here now; I'm just stating what happened, so be careful.

As a reminder, gaming companies are not your friends. They'll do everything they can to get more and more money from you, so it's in your best interest to stop defending them linking the ToS and other stuff, and actually look after what's better for you (that includes your peers) and for the quality of the game that you're playing. While I, as others, think that Yoshi and Co. genuinely care about the game and about keeping us happy and having fun, their higher ups only care about numbers. We keep seeing time and again how they lack resources to implement things, to improve the server structure (I mentioned this earlier), and sometimes even to get some deserved rest because their team is still as small as when 2.0 launched. If you really want to help them (the devs and the game, not the company) stop defending these practices that only hurt us and ask them to reinvest more money on the actual game that is generating it (because as it stands, FFXIV is making more than enough money). Until you do that, and until they do that too, white-knighting the cash shop, among other things, just proves that you're complacent and will accept everything that they throw at you.
