I thought you weren't serious, but I just Googled it... wow.
Except for the fact that they keep making advances on what they put on the cash shop? I accepted one mount every year or so, no big deal. I accepted old event items, I mean, I had the chance to obtain them for free, I didn't have to pay a cent and I have bought items from events I've missed, it's a way of paying for the sub that I would have had to have paid has I attended that event. Minions were pushing it, but hey WoW does it too I guess, and it's cheaper in FFXIV right? $5 vs 10, seems fair enough? But no, that wasn't enough money in their pockets, they just had to keep pushing and pushing, and now we have exclusive cash shop sets that were never obtainable outside it. Had they been for the anniversary event and then put on the cash shop I'd be fine with it, but this way? No, I'm not. Development resources went into adjusting these costumes onto all races, development time that could have been spent on things in the actual game.
To all those who have been throwing around the "It's just fluff" argument, you do realize that a sizeable amount of people in FFXIV play for this "fluff"? I enjoy gameplay just as much as the next guy, but you know what I care about most? The glamour, which is why I'm already partially disappointed in the Void Ark, Alexander was a piss poor raid in visual design and story (other than A3) but I ran it for the "fluff", it's not fluff for everyone. People have their different play styles, it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Hell I bet there's someone out there who primarily plays Triple Triad, I'm sure they wouldn't be pleased if they added Triple Triad cards into the cash shop, right? No different to minions and Lords of Verminion.
This is the last time i'll bother replying to you because all the post you make are nonsense.
Never in my OP i claimed it's making people quit. You keep making stuff up and reading what you want. You pretty much are talking to yourself.
I just made an argument about how it takes away from the game and makes stuff less rewarding.
But there is also no proof that the game having a cash shop attracts people to the game more than not having it.
I for once started to play this MMO because i was sick of double dipping in DCUO and pay to win mechanics and i wanted the assurance that my sub would give me a chance to get everything the game had.
And it was like that for a long time till the game added the cash shop.

That you had to pay for yes. As well as the N7 outfits but those were a limited time deal.
We all can argue this to ages to come. The fact is, people answer with the wallet. If people buy it, they will keep selling it. Everything on that cash shop (minus Odin's Mount) does not have to be in the game. Not every game allows you to marry. Not every game allows you to wear NPC clothes. And some games don't always offer Seasonal Items again after an event is done.
This just boils down to wanting the item. You don't need it. It won't make you stronger. No one would bat an eye on your appearance. I need people to be effective, not look like my Little Princess and not pulling weight in content. If people don't like it, unsub, go play something else or deal with it. This is the model SE has chosen and it will stay for better or for worst.
Oh for those that say they don't buy from the shop but have minions and stuff from the shop, you are just as guilty as from buying from the shop itself. It may not have come out of your pocket but you accepted the item. So in essences, you are supporting the cash shop.
To be honest with you, I do not care. Whether people are against cash shop or with it. Whether people buy from cash shop all the time or not, it doesn't matter to me. You cannot control what people will buy with their money. You can be adamant on your stance about cash shop, but there will always be others who don't follow your opinions and do what they want. Cash shop has been here for a while. Maybe they are selling pretty well. Which I'm gonna assume doesn't fall well for some. They detest them for that? I mean they have a name for them. I believe they call them "whales"? But I know none of this doesn't matter. People will stay firm on their opinions. People will argue back and forth till they're blue in the face.

"No one would bat an eye on your appearance" This is so wrong it's not even funny. But again this is also a matter of opinion. You don't but other people do.
"If people don't like it, unsub, go play something else or deal with it." This is also a really ignorant way to see things. Even if you don't share my opinion you should never wish me or people that think like me to leave the game. This a MMO. It requires people to play with, if people unsub the game slowly dies.
And mmo's usually have a domino effect. When someone leaves it's usually not alone. I for one i have been the leader of a static for 2 year. If i quit the game, i can assure you at least 4/8 player from my group would too.
Just because you buy something from it doesn't mean you think it's a good thing? I admit I'll probably buy some of the outfits because there's no other way to obtain them. Why? Because I personally can afford to and enjoy glamours. Some people don't have the money to do that and therefore can't enjoy the content. This does cause people to quit the game when it's something they primarily enjoy, and believe me, it is.
Again, just because you don't care about glamours, you don't care about the cash shop and you don't agree with the OP doesn't mean everyone else shares the same opinion. You also don't NEED to play this game at all, do you?

I wasn't the one to call those people whales, whales refers to a group of people who spend tens of thousands on a game and fund the entirety of development + profits of a game. I don't think that applies to FFXIV as you can't really do that unless you were some insane fantasia addict. I'm aware that this isn't going to change the minds of people who do buy into these mounts, Scion outfits, dyes and minions, but all I'm hoping for is that this gets across to the developers and they don't take it further. They are really pushing it with this update, I have seen first hand what happens to MMOs when people let stuff like slide and I'm sure a lot of people here have too, I just don't want that to happen to FFXIV. I'm going to argue my opinion as I believe it would be in the game's best interest to not take it further, what I don't understand is the people spouting the ToS when the Producer-Director doesn't even do that.
If it doesn't make people quit, how it is bad for the game exactly ?
(and "bad for the game" is straight up what you said in your 2nd post)
Bad for your envy for Sleipnir and Scions outfit maybe, but for the game ? err, nope.
This is so irrelevant to the subject you actually made me laugh. Good one
If the cash shop doesn't make people quit, then its existence is not a problem even if it doesn't attract new players.
and seriously, most of your posts are Ad Hominem, hasty generalizations or burden of proof reversal... How about you back up your claims at least once instead of forever dodging the fact that you have nothing ?
