I find the combat speed just fine as a rank 50 marauder. The only thing I want is for actions to go off faster and more smoothly when I try and chain them together.
Devs are allready adressing these issues though.

I want to be in complete control of my char, Auto attack just takes away some of that control.
This is my experience as a THM.

This... plus faster auto attack base means less powerful attacks, don't want ANOTHER mmo where auto attack does dick all >< Yoshi's already responded and said they'll be keeping speeds atm but adding in double attacks and haste and stuff later... so don't see how it's an issue xD

it's an issue because we are not playing in the future atm. it is slow now and we are playing now. if they didn't have the system ready to put in place it shouldn't have been put in.This... plus faster auto attack base means less powerful attacks, don't want ANOTHER mmo where auto attack does dick all >< Yoshi's already responded and said they'll be keeping speeds atm but adding in double attacks and haste and stuff later... so don't see how it's an issue xD
do remember in january they said we would be getting basic ls options in the future..... still waiting.

be lucky it's not FFXI auto attack.
And this is where ARC gets screwed. When the server is hitting that basic attack for you, you don't have to care whether you're there to hit the next attack as soon as you can, you can just keep popping abilities. ARC has to constantly rush back to that 1 key and often loses time because of it.
Of course ARC is over-powered right now anyway so no one complains about that, but once they nerf ARC into line with other DDs it's going to be the worst class due to the lack of auto attack. I can see MRD being the next DD king, making use of AoE attacks in a system where there's no claim on mobs and mobs link up.

Autoattack just made more problems. One year later they are still solving problems THEY CREATED.
I refuse to play combat classes now. The combat in this game is the worst I have ever seen in any game.battle ts better in general since patch, more ballanced and so on.
But auto attack is so slow, that is less playable than it was before patch ( I had more fun with 1key spamming, at least my chara did something).
I think battle could be a bit faster, so player actually feels he is playing. I think I am just standing sometimes and I find this very boring. I dont know how new players will, especially these on PS3, will welcome this. Some might but some might not as well. But you cant please all. At least I think "A bit" faster battle could be enjoyed by more ppl (not hyper fast, as it was before update was quite ok).
Please discuss if you have got similiar opinion on auto-attack spd rate.
Edit :
I am refering from my experiences as MRD or LNC. And from what 2 friends told me, they both quitted in first two days of game at ranks 12 and 24. Because of battle, they said. (they bought game and tried it after 1.18). I am used to game since collectors, so I am dealing with updates myself.
I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
i think one of the issues is level. when you are level 50 with like 25 abilities you have something to do between AA, when you are level 10 with only 1 or 2 jobs that level, there isnt much to do at all.
I dont really love AA, or its implementation, running up to a monster and waiting for an AA trigger still feels very weird, and selecting mobs while AA can randomly trigger at any time with no warning is also weird. Still dont know why they didnt have an initiate AA button.
Anyhow yea AA feels slow, and weird, and a bit off, hopefully when they fix the animations it will feel a lot less so, but ehhh we ll see. Far as haste and multi hit weaps, bleh not a fan of buff and wait mechanics for everything, but it will be better than being slow and doing nothing i suppose.
It definitely feels very disjointed and weird now. Its a bit sad, because while they are starting to add new content, and iron out some kinks, for me the battle itself is a lot less entertaining now, so i dont even feel a great desire to do these new things.
Its basically like combat has gone back to a very early development build, that doesnt make too much sense yet.

+1 for this.
And I still wish we had the option to just turn it off. There are times when I don't want to hit the monster.
Just last night we were fighting 6 cockatrices at once because of a mis-aimed AoE blast -- I then tried to use Sleeping Potions to keep them off us for a little while, only to have my character whack it the next instant because of Auto Attack. ><
