This thread jinxed me. Normally I have average-good PF experiences... just got Dusk Vigil a bit ago and the tank (PLD) could not hold hate on anything (NO flash usage whatsoever). He proceeded to blame the 2 dps and myself because "I know how to play my role". Dismissed him and got a new tank and finished without issue. :P

P.S. Guy, if you happen to be reading this... when you say "every group I get in the people are bad" the common denominator is you.

Because it is the notable things that you make note of ((Also, you die if you are killed)). If you're Bad, you don't have the ability to see whether the person yelling at you for being bad is much better, outside maybe if they died first, all you see is the yelling. If you are Good, you understand what is good and what is bad, but to you, good play is just expected. Unless things are going just bad enough that they can be saved, good play is just SOP, and if they're going too bad to be saved, oh well. So What most people see are the Vitriol and bad plays. Sometimes they are from the same person, so you take note. sometimes they're from different people so whatever.

Because the bad (emphasis on bad, not all) casual players usually get carried through everything or speed through nerfed content like someone else said and then think they have the skill and knowledge for every other aspect of the game.

It's funny, because I've seen it happen so many times when someone has been carried through a ton of content, has a horrible attitude, but then calls players elitist when they want help and can't get it because they have no idea how to do content which requires skill and can't fix their attitude.

Again, just to clarify, I'm talking about bad casual players, not casual players in general.

And you may think well I'm ahead in this so I'm better at "getting it" I'm sure in some other thin whether it's playing the piano or knowing how to cook, or even just knowing trivia. If they aren't better than you in something, somewhere else they've put in time to be better than you.

I don't care if you're good, bad, casual, elitist or whatever. Just don't be a dick to others. All there is to it.

It's getting pretty tiring to see so many posts such as this one reinforce the myth that casual players are crappy and that crappy players are casual.

I understand the OP's point - some horrible players give more attitude than players that play well.

What, then, is the reason for the OP to say in his title "bad/casual"?

It's human nature to relate to one group or another. It's this forum's nature to boil that down to casual/elite and good/bad. It's the nature of the ignorant to group casual and bad together.

The vast majority of casual players, while they may not have BIS gear, are more than competent at their jobs and at dungeon mechanics. Time for the "good" players in this forum to park their egos.

Both good and bad players can be arses or nice people, player ability doesn't dictate a personality type...

This is only part of it. There are tons of different reasons for this happening.

Basically I'll leave it at "bads will be bad"
You are referring to parsers, the which are still illegal.

I never use that shit, and never entitled to use it.

I play the game for fun, clears, understanding, improving on my own and listening to advice from others. Watching Vids if content is older than 2 weeks.

PS4 without a Keyboard to communicate, or worse, PC Players that don't communicate, is worse imho.

I consider myself average. I've seen way worse than me, and I'm far from elitism.

Just yesterday, went into a dungeon as NIN, our Tank was.. well.. then she typed: Sorry, lack of sleep.

Well, news for you: stop playing and go to sleep! The game will be there tomorrow. Your ESO cap will not be that much affected, since it has been reset.

She wasn't using overpower at all as a WAR, instead using Flash.. and my GF (Healer) ended up with mobs on her, I had to pull them off her lol

I checked after we were done an hour later she's got DRK and PLD 60, WAR 56. So just like me, she doesn't know WAR that much, so.. I excuse her lack of play.

But I won't excuse a lack of sleep, or some who are drunk.. Please make a drunk/sleepy group by yourselves and go play together.

There are some that will listen to others recommendations, if put nicely. Some won't care of course, and we have to suck it up, or leave if after 30 min, you are trying to kill the first trash mobs.. you just won't make it until the end..

    Time to cut our losses.

    I forgive a bad player. I don't for a bad attitude.

I think it all comes down to a person's perspective of the world around them. That's why you see threads discussing the expectation of healers to dps or if it's rude for dps to use knockbacks in group content, everyone sees the world a little differently. I would probably fall into most people's definition of an "elitist", but I think being aware of my own disposition helps to keep my expectations in check. Like many, I expect a certain level of competent play without taking mechanics into account. Whether I call someone out or not largely depends on the role I'm playing and how a player's actions (or lack thereof) are affecting the group. If you're a level 50+ tank and you make no effort to dodge AoE while I'm healing, there's a good chance you're going to get a super charged sarcasm infused remark regarding your relationship with Darwinism because in my mind there's zero reason at your level to not understand that bright orange shapes on the floor are bad news. Same example but the tank is level 20-30, it's much more likely that I'll try to make a helpful suggestion because it's not inconceivable that the tank is inexperienced.

I don't find a lot of content in the game difficult, I find the difficulty in having to rely on others to pull their weight in content. More often than not when I'm in a group of "bads", if I don't deem the group wholly incapable of clearing, I'll often endure in silence because I feel like constructive criticism is often completely disregarded or taken as some form of personal attack and I don't play videogames to sort through other people's insecurities.

All that being said, I think the inability to see your level of performance without third-party parsers contributes to an overall ignorance in the game. The "elitist" in me agrees with the posts saying people unknowingly get carried and the community protects these players. I believe that facet of this discussion is closely attributed to today's mentality of "everyone is a winner and gets a reward regardless of their performance!" and carebear cuddlefest because not hurting someone's fluffy bunny ear wearing feelings is more important than functionality.

I apologize if I kinda went off on a rant, hopefully I at least stayed on topic. Lol
