Exactly. Spending every last gil you have just to upgrade your left side still leaves you with a crappy weapon and accessories.

The very rough formula I use is the item level x 500 for HQ gear. So a level 10 HQ item should never cost more than 5,000 gil. A level 24 HQ item should be about 12K gil. The max for a level 45 item should be about 22K - asking someone to spend hundreds of thousands of gil for gear they'll wear for 5 levels is asking them to ding level 50 while still wearing level 37 gear.

Midlevel gear is all fast movers, especially when priced appropriately. I deal in volume.

Back when ilvl90 crafted left side gear was a couple months old, it was barely selling at the MB for 300-500k per piece. I stocked up on mats, then bulk crafted 5 of every piece and flooded the market at 80-150k each, which was 50-100% profit. After a week I mass crafted again to replace what sold, dropped prices a little on the stuff that didn't.

Rather than maybe selling 1 piece every week for 400k profit, I was selling 50 for 50k profit each. By the time ilvl110 crafted gear came out in 2.4 I had made well over 20M in profit.

Many of the other crafters with 1 or 2 pieces up for sale undercut then left the market, a couple continued to make their niche pieces and put them up against mine, and I only received tells from one person calling me names for destroying the market.

I'm curious as to how they even found you? Unless you call your retainers some variant of your actual player name?

Somewhat unrelated.
I wonder if some people don't realize that others see their retainer's name as the seller on the marketboard.
Some of the names I see for people's retainer's are ... disturbing.

No problem! I kinda wish it didn't do this for the reason that StouterTaru mentioned. I guess it's just us putting our crafter's mark on the item.

It's silly to buy overpriced stuff, prices inserted by greedy humans.

And yeah by lvl 40 if I have 50k, I don't want to spend it and have nothing left.

It can be useful as well. I've had people contact me to buy items at a discount off the MB. I have no problem direct selling at a discount.
