I think they said there would only be one new job launching with 4.0. Or at least that they never intend to introduce 3 new jobs at the same time. They also said that 3.0 would either have a theme of ocean or sky, and they chose sky. So 4.0 will likely involve water and coastal locations.

Whatever the case may be, we'll probably get a hint when 3.1 launches, assuming they continue the tradition of poetry hinting toward the future expansion.

Personally, I doubt we will be seeing Doma or the Garlean Empire, until we at least see a proper map of the world somewhere. Eorzea is the western most continent, but we've never even seen a proper outline of the central or eastern continents.

I thought Eorzea was the entire world and Aldernard was the continent

I think, if I'm not mistaken, Hydaelyn is the world, Eorzea is a continent and so is Aldenard.

Nope, Eorzea is more "central" if anything. Mamool Ja came from a continent to the west (the new world), Garlemald is northeast, Thavnaria (which seems to be an island, rather than continent) off to the east, Sharlayan (another island, not to be confused with the city in Dravania) to the north, and Meracydia to the south.

Anyway, I doubt we'll be seeing Doma, considering that it was apparently razed to the ground by the empire. As for where I'd like to visit next... Finish up Eorzea before moving out, I say... Lets see Paglth'an, Xelphatol, and the northern half of Vylbrand (so Mount O'ghomoro), lets see the Far Reach and Yafaem Saltmoor. Finish the current map before giving us a whole new one...

Beyond that though, Thavnairia has been kicking around since 2.0, being somewhat of a big part of the Relic questline. The recent Alchemist questline also involved a Thavnairian Alchemist called Waoud, who might sound familiar to anyone who play Final Fantasy XI and unlocked Blue Mage, hint-hint nudge-nudge.

IIRC, Aldenard is the continent, Eorzea is the region. Vylbrand (Limsa) is a separate island to Aldenard, but Vylbrand is still part of Eorzea.

*Gridania, and yeah, Ala Mhigo would be fine, but all the blackspots on the map currently still bug me... Given how many new zones we got with Heavensward... Yeah, I'd rather see Paglth'an, Xelphatol, and O'ghomoro, effectively giving us a Beast Tribe expansion... An Ala Mhigo expansion I imagine would focus on that region and pushing into Garlemald, but I'd quite like to see existing regions filled out.

There are also places like Western Shroud, which looks very interesting, but we have no means of approaching at the moment. Kind of hoping that ends up being a new region for the Airship Exploration in 3.3 or something...

Sure, stuff like the Mamool Ja home you mentioned (I've never even heard of that) might be out there where Eorzean cartographers can only speculate, but we don't even have a map of the highly advanced Garlean Empire. You would think they had a map of their home continent lying around in one of the bases we've raided, but the only thing we've ever seen is obscured by clouds.

I wonder about that, would they need an "accurate" map of the entire world? A world map isn't particularly accurate anyway... Well, the map of Eorzea isn't either come to think about it... Point is, Garlemald is invading Eorzea, they'd want maps of Eorzea that are as accurate as possible, having a world map, in which Eorzea is just a small part, would not be particularly useful. Most of that map is completely meaningless to an Eorzean campaign... If you were invading France, for example, a map which also has America and Japan (basically a world map) on it is going to be utterly terrible, because the detail on France (which is what you want to focus on) would be non-existent.

Nope, Hydaelyn is the actual name of the actual world/planet - Eorzea is just a 'realm', or section of that world, which indeed encompasses the continent of Aldenard and the smaller island of Vylbrand. Unfortunately the two are easily confused especially when npcs are constantly referring to Eorzea in indeed more of a 'world' context, but it wouldn't be the first time that has happened in a FF game (*cough* Ivalice *cough cough*).
