Bad player etiquette or market board harassment?

quite true. But if you're looking for "reasonable and stagnant" prices, find a friendly face and direct trade with them instead. Set up a price with them. I'm sure they'd rather have a guaranteed sell for x price than to have to put it on MB and play "who can undersell for 1 gil less" for the next few days. Or if you have a gathering/crafting class, you can always look to do mutual trading (but that's a bit risky as people's determinations of fair trades are always subjective).

3 of the items in the recipe sell from NPCs for a combined 40 gil. The remaining are an ice crystal and a silver ingot.

One way to make profit is to sell something that is horribly overpriced, in bulk, at a reasonable price.

My questions are how is that even allowed in game? And is this some short or harassment or just bad etiquette? Since it doesn't seem like the player is even trying to make a profit more so saying that they can destroy this sale category out of pure spite or boredness.

Chilled Red is super cheap to make though. As for where they got them all, maybe their FC house was done up as a fancy bar or restaurant and they redecorated. Maybe retainers brought them back. Maybe they just felt like opening a winery, I dunno. I don't see how it's harassment or bad etiquette at all for them to list their items to the market board though. If something isn't selling at the price you have it listed at, you can either shrug and leave it or you can lower the price little by little until the item actually sells. An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so there's not much use in indefinitely leaving items up there that aren't selling.

It's not even been just lowly housing items, I seen a player lock out the entire company tabard category by selling from 200k to 700k in one night and on my server that item was going for no less then 900k. The cost of dusk leather alone cost more verses what this player was selling the tabard for.

I've been running our FC airships nonstop trying to discover the last couple of sectors; after a few weeks of that, I have more Dusk Leather than I know what to do with. I've had some listed on the market board for several days now and they haven't budged. If you get the materials yourself for free instead of buying them, anything you can get for the end product is pure profit. They've probably just been sitting on some leathers for awhile, decided to clean out their retainers, and crafted some stuff to get rid of the junk they have. I do it every so often myself - go into retainer inventory, wonder briefly about where all this crap came from, shrug and haul it all out and figure out what to do with it, whether that be crafting, turning in for expert delivery, or just flat-out npc'ing.

That's not a sustainable selling pattern. Eventually the seller will run out of product. If the price remains low for an extended period of time, then the perceived value for the item is lower than the market value; in other words, people overpriced their items.

People sell low all the time, looking for a fast cash grab, marketing to a wider audience, liquidating product they spent little to no money on. If someone's selling so low it makes your head spin, snap it up and upsell it!

I fully support free markets and if you understand basic economics they aren't an issue at all and neither is undercutting, no matter which price they sell it for. You are upset because you don't have a monopoly over the pricing on said market and haven't diversified your investments enough to secure an income in other portions of the market so you see this as an attack or "harassment", both of which are kind of silly considering you are the one posting about someone else accusing them of things for them practicing a basic exercise of their rights.

Doubtful it could be construed as harassment, unless maybe they knew you and your retainers, and purposely manipulated prices to keep you from profit. I could see THAT as a form of griefing, but it would be incredibly hard to prove.

Undercutting with nonsensical prices happens all the time, you just need to either ride it out until they go off the MB or take a more active approach by buying up undercut stuff and reselling at your price point.

Me personally, I'm more annoyed when someone tries to corner the market on something by buying up all of them and then relisting them for like 2-3x (sometimes more) the price that they have ever gone for, but it is what it is and I just don't buy from those people.

And even then. they would suffer huge losses, and you could just buy up the cheaper items from them to sell for profit later. Or just move into different items.
