All I see is mad. Lol.Developers making content easier down the road so more people who play the game can experience the game they also paid for, but don't want to put a whole lot of time in?

All I get from this is them saying they plan on adding new challenges while making the old challenges easier for people. You'll still have your super 1337 secret club of people who get an item first, and I'm sure that little trophy you bought yourself to show you were the first person to get a certain weapon will always be special...you'll just get to go after a new shiny item while the old crappy item will be given out to the peasants months later. Stop being so selfish with your virtual items.
Whether it's a day, a month, a year, a decade...whatever, they'll always make content more accessible to a wider audience.
Yoshi did only say 'scenario' though, it doesn't account for all the end-game content so this may just be one of the smaller easier snippets. Hopefully relics will be something much more difficult.
NEED MOAR RED TEXT
That kind of model allows the developers to consistently put out new content without worrying about obsolescence of older content (since it's planned); and it allows them to closely control which content players see when so there's no risk of making content people don't care about.
FFXI's content progression model was terrible on many aspects. It made people burn out, it turned those who go through with it into elitist douches, it made tons of people not even care about content (like COP Dynamis), etc. Take off your rosy nostalgia glasses and think a little about FFXI's content, and how much of it you did on a regular basis or even cared about.
Doing everything the same way the competition does it isn't a very good decision for FFXIV if you ask me, not after failing its launch. There's tons of games out there doing this already. The market is saturated with free hand-out MMOs. We don't need another.
Fact is, we knew that this was the direction they were taking once Yoshi P took control. I agree with the OP. I'm not really looking forward to it when viewing the entire game as a whole. It just seems like "What's the point?"

I'm sorry did you say something about play the game?
k? And?
Visch, When will Barret Wallace get done beating up that pony in you sig?
But i think if you work hard how an item, it should stay rare.
My position? It's in the OP. Items don't have value = not worth playing.
There is nothing more I have to say to someone who doesn't even play but has 800 posts.
