AF2 in job quests nearer or at the next expansion?

As the thread title states, does anyone think that the AF2 or an AF2.5 would be implemented towards the end of 3.x or at the start of 4.0, like they did with the i90 gear also being given out for the Lv45 and Lv50 job quests pre-3.0?

I'm kind of holding out on leveling jobs because of that. I'm not going to rush at all to get to Lv60 for all my jobs, but if they do that, why grind Esos to get AF2 right now?

The esoteric gear, aka the AF2 is the equivalent of the mytology gear, aka AF1
They are both artifact gear that can by bought with tomestones.

I think Naraku is asking if they'll add the Esoteric sets to level 58 and 60 job quests near the end of the expansion.

Probably not. Best one could hope for is that months from now the cost is reduced when some other tomestone is introduced. Or even that something akin to the antique tokens are offered that would allow a person to get those items.

I'm leveling MCH, AST, and DRK via leves with leveling my chocobo in the process. If I rush to Lv60 and wait to finish the story before 3.1 hits, I'll be bored waiting for the story. I held off finishing MSQ in 2.0 because I wanted the patches to be released so I could finish them all at once without having to wait 3 months for each patch to be released.

I kind of doubt they will be adding the new tome gear into 3.X quests as free upgrades when 4.0 comes out. They added the ilevel 90 and ilevel 110 gear to 2.X quests to help players blaze through he 2.X story, so that they could GET to 3.0 content. Yoshida has already said that the events of 4.0 will be removed from 3.0 in such a way as to not require players to clear the 3.X story.

Obviously they will need some kind of filler gear, to ensure that players can move from Singularity Reactor to the first 4.0 zone and not be obliterated by the first mob, but that filler gear will probably need to be stronger than ilevel 200-210. I can see the first zone of 4.0 easily being around ilevel 240 or higher.

If I were a dev, I would make sure that the opening quests of 4.0, where you walk around and become acquainted with the new locale, rewarded that ilevel 240 gear to ease fresh level 60 players into the expansion. And that free ilevel 240 gear would be as bland and dull as possible, much like the ilevel 115 gear in Heavensward.

I dont belive so. AF i90 was your eso gear essentially. The reason I believe they gave you the i55/60 AF was because it was legacy content from 1.x and they wanted all players to have it as a class set. Going into HW the ESO gear is new and we will eventually get it for eso when it's depreciated as a new tier comes in.
