FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

I would want Viera to be an option in FFXIV. Mainly because I want the "a little bit beastly"-flavor that Au Ra and Miqo'te have without being really short and youngish (I've been both Au Ra and Miqo'te, but it felt sort of silly in some of the cut-scenes, and not in the intended cute-comedic effect you get with Lalafells) or get a stiff hook-shaped tail when on a mount. I would probably have settled for Elezen, but I disliked how lanky and unbalanced they looked, and Roegadyn isn't really what I'm looking for. Hence why I'm a Hyur, but to be honest, I find it a bit boring to play human in a fantasy game.

Uh, okay I don't get what "Humans look like humans" means in the context of anything of what I said. I pointed out that the Viera look massively similar to the Elezen, much akin to how the girl Au Ra look massively close to the Miqo'te and Midlanders and that's a problem. It's not impossible to make a race with a unique body and still remain humanoid, the male Roegadyn are good evidence of this.

Okay..? How is what she's saying going to sway me and what point are you trying to make? I mean, shoot do I need to wander around taking screenshots of the beastmen in Limsa and those friendly to Eorzea to show you it's not in such a major conflict?

You're right I didn't play FFXII, I did play Revenant Wings half way though! From what I've read it's got drab characters, a boring story to boot, and the only race in the game I care about are the Bangaa and they don't even bother giving you a permanent Bangaa party member.

You can have a vaguely cutesy boy Au Ra (Though they're much more wild and cute). girl Au Ra aren't fierce in the least. Au Ra were a weird hybrid of a demon race and a dragon race where the girls were then sweetened up massively to appeal to the "I want cute/sexy women!" crowd.

The concepts of what is cute and fierce is pretty solid, even between what Japan considers cute and fierce and what the US considers cute and fierce. Either way, the dudes look much more fierce while the girls still look plenty elegant/cute (Just like the girl Au Ra lol). The poll's results shouldn't matter as the poll was flawed and Yoshida already acknowledged that by saying "Like the Viera" tilted the results and gave way to obsessive 12 fans. But hey, I'd be fine having Viera cause a lot of people like it, but only if it meant we got a race that appealed to me too. Give us an actually fierce and strong looking (preferably reptilian) race and I'm sure plenty of people would be fine with Viera 2.0 being added.

What part of "they just added a fierce" race did you not understand? It was their choice to make female auras fierce. Races shouldn't be decided on whether they're cute or fierce. Races should be added based on fan demand. They're the ones that are going to play the game. Viera clearly won the race poll. They even acknowledged it based on the fact that they spent time designing them for FFXIV and showing the concepts.

It's quite clear that they didn't end up with making girl Au Ra to be fierce. Look at the concept art, look at what we have now. There's even statements about how they made the girl Au Ra way cuter to already meet the Miqo'te/Midlander appeal. Lots of people demand lots of things for this game, copying the looks of 11's races was something a lot of players seemed to get annoyed by, why would copying a race from 12 be any different? Besides, we're all paying customers here and my green is the same as your green, so were are the races to appeal to us? I really doubt it takes much time to churn out two pages of concept art for a race that already existed.

Shame something like that couldn't ever happen. I'm sure if Viera were added they'd be either sexed up or cute as heck given that's basically how they look in the games they're in.

This is not all about you, this is about the fans. They already made the fierce race, it's called auras. The decision to make the female cute was their choice. If you don't like it go play male aura.
Your problem is with biology not with square enix. Fierce females (whatever that means) is as much of a percent in our human population as female body builders are, almost non-existent.

You're an extremist, when you say highlander hyur females are not fierce enough, that clearly shows how far to the extreme you want to take your personal agenda.
I challenge you, go make a fierce female request thread and let's see how much support it gets. If you're so proud and think that's what the fans want go ahead and make one. I'll be happy for you if that's what people want.


Manipulating this thread and turning it into a request for your obscure want of "fierce females" is what has many reading all of this distanced. Everything about viera and XII makes perfect sense. What I find obscure is your need for a "fierce" race when they just added aura. Take your extreme definition of fierce somewhere else. If what you want is to actually play a dragon I suggest you play something else

I agree with all of the things you wrote here. Reading through his posts is getting more and more ridiculous by the day. He basically doesn't want this race to be added to the game because he thinks that the entire game revolves solely around him and SE shouldn't implement them just because of that particular reason.

I challenged him to make his own thread, I told him that I would support him even. He replies back to me, telling me that he doubts that I would support him. I find this very funny because he acts as if he knows me lol.

Personally, I would prefer the FFXIV team to make a new race, rather than copy and paste a race from another game (as it would just make them appear lazy to me). Currently, they've only made the Au Ra, female Highlander (but with eyebrows), female Roegadyn and male Miqo'te (the original 1.0 races were designed by Tanaka's team and were mostly a copy paste from FFXI, but altered to be mostly human). I also do not play this game for the cute things.

Beastmen glamour would be neat.
