Wow, thanks for the in-depth response! <3
First Patch - I get that and you are 100% correct, I just feel that there wasn't enough to keep me interested. I feel there should have been more endgame with the expansion's initial release. Farm 2 dungeons, run Alex, raise more classes up to do the same thing. Obviously this is an abridged version but that's how it feels at the moment, lets hope 3.1 fixes this!
Skill Bloat - Ah, our definitions differ. I would love to have unnecessary skills so that I can simply remove them from my bars, that would clean everything up. But as you stated I too use 95%+ of the skills offered on most classes, many of them being staples in our rotation or simply having situational usage that makes me want to keep them nearby just in case they're needed. If I actually added my PVP skills to my bars too, that'd have me at almost 4 full bars for many classes! That's what I mean by skill bloat. A class's complexity does not have to be determined simply by the number of skills it has. We can change the procs or effects of skills around to make them more difficult, situational, interesting.
Scrips - I'm glad you said this, gathering scrips discouraged me so greatly due to the timers that I didn't even want to bother with the crafting scrips. I'll give them a try for sure now, thanks for the perspective!
DF/PF - Someone else suggested some changes to PF options as well, a good idea. Again, I would like to see PF go cross-server at some point too. I would really like to try that out, I think it would address many of the problems that myself and others have with PF and trying to clear things using it. I see that you and I are on different servers and our descriptions of PF differ greatly. Clearly I should have chosen a different server for progression, but Faerie is home. Grats on your achievements in Alex Savage btw!
ARR Dungeons - There is plenty of exp, but it is confined to FATEs between 50-51. If you're like me and raise all classes it becomes tiring to be forced to level in a specific way, especially if you're burned out on that method. That being said, this is ultimately a matter of personal preference and having options. It's fine that you don't understand, I think we have entirely different leveling preferences and that's okay.
Hunt Logs - The daily hunts did help a lot, and it was a fun new twist on hunting. I'd say I like this addition overall and I can live with it over hunt logs.
Crafters - That's a good tip, I was under the impression that they had to be from the same FC... that makes the requirement all the more stranger to me though. However, this may make it easier for smaller FCs to progress their project when schedules don't line up. Thanks for sharing this!
DF Again - My apologies as I seem to have given the wrong impression here. I'm not trying to put anyone down. I thought it was an obvious exageration and was simply trying to make a point. I do not think that I am some great player, I think of myself in more simple terms. I am good enough to clear any content, given the time and practice. I will not likely ever have a world or server first, because I am not a hardcore player and do not want to invest that amount of time required to achieve that (nothing against those who do, that's amazing!).
Again, when referencing myself I stick with "I'm good enough", as are many other players out there. Are there players who've progressed further, faster, and have greater bragging rights? Of course, and they earned it. I just want to clear content and farm fights that I find rewarding. I'm not competing.
My point was that if any person takes it upon themselves to educate everyone they come across, they will inevitably find themselves investing the overwhelming majority of their time doing exactly that and not finding any personal progression outside of that. While they would be a saint by sociatal standards (and certainly have the respect of many people, myself included), many people are not likely able to take on that level of burden. Many of us pay our monthly fee and want to progress in our own ways, and not be held back. Whether you wish to clear a fight only once simply to see it, or you enjoy farming them for loot, achievements, etc, you should be able to do that.
Patch Notes - That link is very good for reviewing patch notes after or just before going live. However, as they piece the patch together I feel the average player must look into many different sources for that information, instead of simply having a compiled list that is added to as new information is available. This makes it difficult to be on top of future patch notes prior to them being listed in the link you shared. As of now the link you shared has nothing in regards to patch 3.1, which again leaves many players without knowledge of what to expect. Thank you for sharing it though. That is an excellent link for players who take time away from the game and need to catch up on the patches they missed.
Take care!
