For those that haven't caught up, List of confirmed flying mounts in 3.1

I wish flying wasn't in the game at all, except airship transportation. It kinda cheapens the experience when you can just fly in a straight line everywhere and avoid all the nooks and crannies they made when they created the landscape. I'm sure I'm probably in the minority though.

Being able to fly won't deter people who want to take in all the small details from discovering them.

And these are good mounts. Although I'm still disappointed that there's no flying Rowena mount.

Even with unrealistic, some are borderline absurdity. At least something like a fat chocobo already has wings (and the fact its a chocobo, only, well...fat which can inherently fly). I personally don't particuarly want to see things like bears, horses (espesically ones with no magical affinity like the wardsteads) magically sprout (organic) wings.




Apply something like that to a gobbule, tortoise or a bear and that's imo breaking the willing suspension of disbelief in even a fantasy setting like FFXIV.

A horse with no wings makes sense to fly? An orb that literally does nothing but hover and attack makes more sense to fly? And to Kosmos, regardless if it makes sense that a Magitek can fly or not is besides the point. Magitek's don't fly. Now they do.

Look, if everything that flies has wings than this isn't an argument. They are making mounts that have NO BUSINESS flying in air, do exactly that. Fenrir gets nothing? I am playing a fantasy game in a fantasy world and y'all are comparing my argument to what makes sense?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me???? I don't give two shits if "wolves don't fly" NEITHER DO HORSES.

I grinded Fenrir because it's an awesome mount. I do enjoy having it. I don't enjoy Square Enix making my time spent almost completely devalued. As I sit and watch mounts get perks to having them since Fenrir has been available, and Fenrir gets nothing....literally makes no sense to me at all. And Heavensward in itself made it to where it is just for riding around my housing district, or AFKing in front of Savage entrance.

Don't tell me "just think about why wolves can't fly" like I'm 5 years old, Ryu. How about you explain to me the specific science that allows a horse to fly? Please, I'm still waiting for this. How is it this forum thinks it is OK for a horse to fly and not a wolf? This is absolutely unbelievable.

I didn't think so... Don't say a damn word about a "mythological" pegasus either. Those aren't real, in case anyone wanted to rebut with that.

You can go through all those nooks and crannies yourself on your own, I did enough of it while leveling and unlocking the annoying aether currents, I thought the only reason they even added aether currents was to silence the players who'd be like "flying killed wow.. i mean ff" guess some people are never satisfied.

It makes sense for Kirin to fly because in it's mythos it feared bringing harm to any living thing, including grass, so it instead chose to tread on clouds and water. This is why people have been all but demanding Kirin be able to fly, because... it does. Flying chocobos have a precedent in older Final Fantasy titles. Fenrir, in XI, was a summon and all summons kind of flew until Treasures. The Fenrir mount, though, is NOT a summon. It is a trained wild animal like the war bear, coeurls, war lion, goobbues, behemoth, wolf, drake... list goes on. The bombs and ahriman, also wild animals to a degree, fly because they already fly as mobs. Same with the ADS through the power of allag magitek. The one upcoming flying mount I take pause at are the reapers... seriously, what the hell? There better be some power rockets on those things.
