FREE transfers to BALMUNG? (RPers rejoice) Oct 20th - 26th

Because the Chaos data center is being relocated, certain players may find they are no longer playing on a desirable World. In order to address this issue, players will be allowed to transfer from Worlds within the Chaos data center to Worlds within the Elemental, Gaia, Mana, Aether, or Primal data centers free of charge for one week.

if you get a free transfer, you could potentially create a character on the Chaos Data Center before the maintenance and transfer it to Balmung to bypass the restrictions, for free?

If anything, they should offer free transfers away from Balmung and Gilgamesh to lower the bar of doing so.

oh gods, here comes the emergency maintenance lol, when servers came back this morning i saw 30 new characters at least created in uldah, before balmung went closed for new creations. i sense they will close transfers to balmung
p.s. i am glad that balmung is so popular and i welcome new players to join, but i do think that the server is overcrowded compared to other servers, which is perfect for me

They should have offered free transfers to Chaos in the first place, instead of forcing some of the European players who aren't there to pay extra for something that's done for us.

But yeah, when a certain server doesn't allow character creation on a pretty much permanent basis because it's overcrowded (severely so in case of Balmung for example) - I really don't see the logic in allowing everyone and their cousins to transfer their characters there (now for free, at that - personally I find it disgusting to abuse this gesture like that and makes me wonder if SE sees it that way as well). It's an oversight that's existed for as long as the character transfer system itself, and it just baffles me that they don't seem bothered about it.

It says that, but you can still transfer to balmung/gilgamesh. I already tested that. It wouldn't surprise me if that is exactly why Balmung in particular is full all the time.

It wouldn't be smart of them to uphold that rule because full server = incentive to make someone transfer = $$$$.
