Technically, the Garleans came to the waking sands to capture the Eikon Slayer, not Minfilia. Because we weren't there, she was taken instead only because she was leader (the "high priestess of the scions") and had the echo.

Also, no Sharlean scion (we know of) has the echo. Minfilia is Ala mhigan, as is that other guy still in the Sands.

You're right, I just rewatched the cutscene. But it could still be said it is not directly the players fault as they were dispatched to destroy Ifrit and Titan per Minfillia and the City-states request. Towards the end Livia makes it clear that they really just wanted someone with the Echo and that we were just there primary target.

What was their reasoning for taking the rest of the Scions if they did not possess the Echo. I missed that little plot hole. I mean they murdered the crap out of anyone else who didn't have the Echo.

• Yda? Papalymo? nah too funny
• Y'shota? She;s gonna die anyway if what Matoya said is true, but killing her whens she's the unofficial mascot of XIV (and apparently loved by many players besides) would be too cruel
• Alisale? Alphinaud? Im kinda interested in seeing how their character develop, especially the latter. Plus Alphinaud's origins and political expertise would be a useful asset when we inevitably go to Sharlayan (or its successor state)

• TBH I don't hate any of the Scions, so anyone I'd want to off would be more for the sake of Drama, to that I shall invoke the Principle of the Decapitated Army, since Minfilia is the "high priestess" and Louis is either dead or otherwise too incapacitated to lead. She will be the one to go (Permadeath Optional, as Nanamo and Louisoux can attest :P)
