As far as I remember I don't think any relic step ever came out needing the current tomestone currency except for the very first step when you needed to buy the Thav Mist to +1 the original relic (now called Zenith) This was obviously done in a time-gate attempt because it was the strongest weapon in the game for most people upon release because A) Coil wasn't out immediately, and Turn 5 had many problems when it came out and B) Allagan Weapon was also only i90 upon release so itemization of some relics were actually better than raid weapons.
- Animus books costed Mythology when they came out, Soldiery was already in game.
- Novus maps for Alexandrite costed Mythology when they came out; Sphere Scroll was initially bought with Mythology, Soldiery was already in game.
- Nexus costed nothing in terms of currency. How large of a piece of your soul it costed is subjective and will vary between cases
- Zodiac; the only piece that costed tomes was Sacred Spring Water's, which were bought for soldiery while poetics were in game.
Atma and Zeta steps costed no tomes at all. Obviously saving the Eso isn't hurting anything and you will just probably have a ton of it to spend on an alt or something...but I don't think people should worry about needing Eso for the relic. At least not the first step. Maybe if they release more than 1 step in 3.1 like they did for the original relic. I would think you should definitely have 2000 Law tomes before 3.1 though. Just my 2 gil![]()
Atma favors that you buy with Eso, else drop rate is 0.
Kinda surprise they didnt release Alexander favors yet.
Dont worry guys, most likely it will require a lot of Sky Islands content!!
Or a shite load of foreverreap iterations :|
(wouldn't surprise me if they sent us back to CT tho)
Murphy's Law dude; My PVE tank is geared for SA3(my Hurdle) and my MCH is min/maxed PvP till I hit rank 50(4 ranks to go!!!!) so I'm capped on both Law and Eso, not taking any chances.Atma and Zeta steps costed no tomes at all. Obviously saving the Eso isn't hurting anything and you will just probably have a ton of it to spend on an alt or something...but I don't think people should worry about needing Eso for the relic. Edit: Each Mahatma cost 200 Soldiery iirc, though you're correct stating it was never the current tome tier.

There's a decent chance that the relic questline this time will be more involved in terms of scope and story than the previous one. The system we got in ARR was something they created from scratch in response to feedback, so they'd had very little time planning it (whereas the rest of the game's systems had been in development for a long time). That's likely part of why we saw so much emphasis on old content.
We're likely to see the use of level 51-59 dungeons, of course, to keep queues running, but I also expect a lot of interaction with new content (namely the Exploration Missions) and hopefully more unique stories. I'm also hopeful that the quests will be more unique per job (the Atma books *still* say that every relic has different goals for them, but they actually don't).
So you #Ragequit after 3 atma and now trying to trivialize the best weapon of 2.x and the best wep glam of 3.0. Time well wasted imo.
I really hope the next relic doesn't use eso. Still trying to decide which class I should gear with eso next War or Nin? I will be ok with what they do as long as we keep customizable stats. Also can any warriors tell me what the current skill speed cap is at 60?
