I have soloed all A ranks I have come across in my paladin, (Marraco, Cornu, Nahn, etc.) Sure it takes awhile, but it beats waiting. Also keep in mind the beast tribe quests are not locked to the class that picks them up. I always do them on my 60 paladin and turn them in on my lower levels. So even if you cannot solo the A rank a level 60 can take a few blows allowing you to get done what you need to get done before the hunt mark kills you. Anyways those are my 2 cents.

People still have interest with S rank when you make party finder, but for A rank, you can fight it solo (In my case, by using SCH and SMN) and bring companion too.

No offence you guys are underminding a pretty big issue here.

I'm in full agreement that something needs to be done about elite mark hunt mobs out in the world.

First they need to re think the presentation for failsafe reasons as when content is deemed irrelivent, people in that part are not subjected to people not wishing to do it.

I run into A ranks and a few S ranks simply trying to do the main story quests, job quests, side quests.

My free company does help when they can, but not everyone is always on or are busy with alex/dailies to drop and help. Shouting on my server isn't helpful, nor is using the pf (i have tried both).

People don't do stuff if they have no benefit, or are busy. To be frank SE should never have made all hunts level 50 and aggro and put them in low/mid level zones. If players can't get stuff done because of a level 50 aggro monster, people will quit.

Having the hunt mob move around would be helpful and make the game more lively, what they can also do is make hunt mob likes treasure maps with a chest that drops aether gear and seals. Or even add recipes to the game and you kill the mark for rare mats.

When i first started playing this character, I just about ran into every A rank in all the starter zones, I had to keep asking my fc for help, and i felt like I was bothing them. Even my boyfriend had to play bait and switch with me vs the hunt mark just so i can run by him while he has aggro and do my quest.

what id consider is remove the aggro on them, that way people not bothered by them.

It's not an issue at all. Systems exist in this game for you to deal with it. This is not really any different from saying that X content needs to be nerfed because you can't be bothered to ask around a FC, LS, PF, or just shout in a city for help. 1 geared 60 on the right job can solo most old-world A ranks. The game is an MMO. It's supposed to be a social game. If you could just do everything yourself, then what would be the point of grouping?

That doesn't apply to solo quest sitations that didn't exist till 2.3. Which is the issue, you can't expect everyone to drop what their doing to kill a mob in your way. It was bad design to stick level 50 mobs in areas meant for level 1-40 areas. So yes It is an issue. If these were in game at start, then you could make that argument. These hunt mobs were not, they were dded in 2.3. Also most of the starter zones are dead, so shouting doesn't help. Not all fc/ls member can drop what their doing to kill a mob. Why should a new plauer wait 30-40 min for help to kill a 50 mob that wasn't there at launch. Not all new players have a free company either. It does take time to get into this sorta stuff.

I actually thought the A/S mobs wandering around dangerously made it more fun when I was lower level... I remember being annoyed trying to do some levequests in W Thanalan and having to dodge the hunt monster which was lurking in between my targets every time, but it was exciting.

However, the core problem is that people have no reason to want to kill them. Before HW you could throw up a PF even in the dead of night on my desolate server and within minutes some bounty hunters would have rushed over to solve the problem. But nowadays almost everyone has bought everything they wanted with the rewards and it's not a good use of their time to dash around killing stray hunt mobs any more unless the PF request makes it clear that someone is in trouble. I think that simply adjusting the reward structure would really help motivate people to exterminate the monsters more proactively.

(Having said that, I'm always happy to round up some friends and clear out unwanted monsters for fun. In the unlikely event that anyone from Yojimbo server ever reads this.)

Two people. Granted, they were pet jobs....but still. Two level 60's took down an A rank.

I stumbled on the Manticore in Costa one day and threw up a PF and we took him down with 8 people.

Just saying. It doesn't take a mass of players to take them down in the ARR zones...for some you may not even need a full party.
I can two man A ranks(HW A ranks too) with my BF and our chocobos. You don't need a massive group for them, even at 50 you just needed a four man.

SE, just make Hunts force popped already... Farm Seals with Mark Bills, buy pop items with Seals, kill Hunts for more Seals and hopefully another pop item. That would work phenomenally well as a structured event, because you know, it did, a lot, in Final Fantasy XI... There is a reason Final Fantasy XI eventually moved away from random spawns to more structured NMs... Adding Final Fantasy XI style HNMs, minus the drops and claiming system, was an absurd step backwards... Force popped, claimed like Treasure Maps, would be so much better...

Honestly, that little stunt at the start of Heavensward, where i180 upgrade items were solely obtained from Hunts? I would have loved that, if Hunts were force popped. Instead I loathed it, because you either zerg them down with the entire server in possibly the least fun way imaginable, or you become a social pariah by daring to enjoy the damn thing instead of waiting for the orbital strike that is shouting their position... I kind of enjoy Hunts now as a result, but they're also incredibly irrelevant now as well... They're either enjoyable and irrelevant, or relevant and unenjoyable... Force pops fixes that completely, just bloody well do it already... Gods help me if that new Airship Exploration stuff is just Hunts 2.0...

Fun Fact: Even with hunt marks, it's not.

Matter of fact, in 3.0 (Heavensward), the open world is a joke. You can just fly over it all
(Which is a notable improvement over the annoying Heavy-centric gameplay of ARR areas)
