decade-plus old gameplay is what a lot of people want.

They don't want stuff handed to them we want ladders to climb...

This game hits a nice balance between to many ladders and just enough.

Came across this on my google new feed yesterday. So many may disagree with you.

That feed is full of misinformation. This is infact a bad way trying to sell the game.

This literally looks like some junk that was written by a guy who just read about the game and has never hit cap if ever even played.

There was another similiar article on some obscure game website where they just parroted the same junk. 'This is what I read about the game somewhere else!'

The game is ladders, thats all it is. Many agree its too many a game play over haul is out of the question but some NEW forms of content would help revitalize the game. 3.1 is very likely going to make or break them over this next year as a rather sizable portion of the player base are getting tired of running on the same hamster wheel. If we break it down to its core 3.0 is 2.0 in a different location with different story and more wasted content. Lv 60 dungeon drops are useful for all of a week, then it becomes glamour, GCS, or desynth fodder. Bismarck weapons were obsolete from launch with Ravana/Law weapons being available. Crafting and gathering has become even more tedious with the addition of more time sensitive gathering.

They continue using this same formula, use the dungeons might LOOK different and have different mechanics but it is the same formula for each patch series. 1 Raid, 2 dungeons, small MSQ injection, some new craft items every other patch or so. Airship exploration just sounds like it is going to be hunts in the sky really.

WoW had a few different types of raids and dungeons, been a long time since I played but those Keepers of Time dungeons where you were defending specific allies against waves of enemies, this was also used in Mt Hyjaal iirc. Make raids larger (I'm not speaking for party size here), what kept WoW raids going were there was alternate routes through most raids. Stuck at boss C? Loop around and try Boss E? Bashing your head against the wall, lets go into this other raid and see if we can get some upgrades in there and come back to it. Yes bosses didn't last as long, and the over all raid was longer but length of battle doesn't = difficult/fun. From what I hear from lurking most people think the current meta of high DPS checks is bad design and WoW raids still gave progression guilds challenges to push through and lead the way for others.

Dungeons had mechanics where you had to control a minion of some kind (That one where you had to pick a drake and fly around, use its skills correctly rather than your own) Sure that novelty wears off but its something they can try to break up the Trash > Boss > Trash > Trash > Boss routine we all ready have. I think AK was the last one with a unique mechanic with the Tonberry chasing you around, again novel for a while but quickly defeated with gear increases. They could have done something similar with the totems when you returned in HM, specific totems buff specific aspects of the final boss or some such non sense. Kill Totem 1, lock out a boss skill or increase its recast but its auto attacks hit harder, or it causes a bleed/dot now.

WoW also had a SLIGHT bit of horizontal gear progression with set bonuses, yes T2 might have been vastly superior, but I might hold onto and continue to use T1 for that first set bonus until I get my 4 piece set bonus for T2 before replacing that. Crafting needs to be made not worthless, the only reason for it now is you want to make your own food/pots for raids or glamours. It is just sad that Y.P. seems to consider glamour as end game content.
