I just don't get this. Would you trade your medicas, stoneskin, cure 2/3, regen, esuna, divine seal, asylum, assize, and tetragramaton for umbral ice and an 80% potency Cure I?

I have a hard time believing that anyone who does this regularly would be smart enough to actually figure out how to use Cleric in reverse to boost BLM/SMN heals.

    Clearly you don't understand jokes.

WHM used to have huge MP issues before HW. Umbral Ice restores MP. Therefore, the dream for WHM back in the day, was to be allowed to have Umbral Ice while healing. I met WHMs all the time who would use Bliz II in low level dungeons and be like, "Just waiting for my Umbral Ice to proc. QwQ"

If you give someone a heal, they think healing is part of their job and think it has a real effect, just because they have it. Hell, where do you think the idea for this thread came from.

Right now, terrible dps is a real problem in the community. It can't handle more people thinking they have to heal. And if they were to make those adjustments, the majoirty of people out there would naturally assume that meant SE wanted dps pushing more heals.

I still think this thread is a gross over reaction to a non issue. And the basic response should be, "If you want to heal, roll healer." Or, "If this is a common enough issue for you, perhaps you sould evaluate how your play effects the healer."

Also, to make chages like this, you now have to go back and look at re-balancing other classes, which take resourses. And in case you hadn't noticed, we are down to two new dungeons per patch.

Apologies for not getting it, it sounded too much like another of those complaints that healers are going to be replaced en masse if this was made available to BLM/SMN.

PLD have clemency, which is actually a pretty strong heal in its own right. I don't see them trying to heal all the time and forget to DPS or tank. I don't think it would be anywhere the issue you seem convinced of.

It doesn't take any resources because there's nothing to re-balance. This is virtually unusable in the high end PVE situations that matter, where you need all the DPS you can bring. And cleric is unusable in PvP.

Healer wipes on lower tier content aren't some massive game killing issue. But this is a great use of the cross class system. It allows both classes to actually use one of their abilities (or cross classed ability in the case of BLM) to some kind of worthwhile effect. And Cleric stance would work perfectly as is, you don't need to change it at all.

Rigid adherence to the Tank/DPS/Heals trinity is boring as all hell. SE should muddy the waters a little any time they have the opportunity. It's awesome that tanks and heals can actually throw out some decent DPS. It's great the PLD can throw out a few strong heals, even if the cast time is a little long. SMN/BLM already had this ability with the appropriate level of effectiveness when you hit 50. I had a few AK runs once upon a time where a BLM stepped in to heal after the healer died and we managed to squeak out a victory (back when i50-60 meant that the difference between MND/INT wasn't as massive as it is now). Obviously not one of those awesome speed runs everybody does nowadays, but it was a lot of fun scraping together a victory in a less than perfect way. It's just a shame this isn't even possible any longer. Throwing out sub 500 hp heals just isn't going to cut it.

And I don't think terrible DPS is a huge problem in the community any more than terrible players are. There's just as many bad heals and tanks out there.
