I too have noticed Mide touch her scar thoughtfully. :P
I'm sure they're gonna try and add some more serious stuff, I just don't think it's gonna work. The foundation just isn't there. Nobody cares about Mide or her scar.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm

Personally I think the final battle of Alexander should not be inside of it. I could imagine the climax of the storyline being that Alexander is finally about to be fully activated, and you need to stop it from breaking out of the shield surrounding it in the Hinterlands, with a time limit indicating when Alexander has drained enough Aether from the land to do so (resulting in an enrage & wipe).
Most of the fight takes place not inside Alexander, but outside: you have to carefully maneuver around on its body parts (mostly the arms & shoulders), entering & emerging from hatches to avoid instant-death/wipe mechanics (with short phases where you have to get through passages inside Alexander to reach another exit while alarms blare, avoiding traps, searing steam, & fighting Illuminati pawns), while fighting its head and arms. As the fight drags on, Alexander will increasingly activate more of its offensive and defensive mechanisms as it drains Aether from the land and switch phases based on that (think Ravana's bloodlust mechanic on Extreme), trying to shake off the combatants (resulting in death), release flying adds to attack the party, and generally unleash hell within the confines of the shield keeping it trapped.
In the final phase - if you have done everything correctly - Alexander does break the shield, punting you off towards the shore of the lake, where you entered. Then, a scripted event takes place where you & your party are reduced to 1 HP, and Alexander is about to kill you. However, just in the nick of time, your friends & allies from Idyllshire come to save the day - alarmed by the raging fight in the Hinterlands, the inhabitants have mobilized to protect their new home and assist the Warrior(s) of Light. As concertedgoblin artillery firegobbiebooms rain down on Alexander, your party can burn it down without much resistance (like King Thordan's final phase in the Singularity Reactor - if you get there, you have won).
(Lol, sorry for wall of text, inspiration got the better of me.)
