I'd rather them skip on the meaningless fluff (such as new character models) and instead give the game a real end game. There were 4 relevant events in 1st Coil.. 2 years later we still have 4 relevant events. Not to mention were still doing 1 group "raid" content.
Newer players to MMO games will likely draw from their experiences playing FPS games, GTA, Dragon Age, Skyrim, etc.. and they will evaluate a MMO based on that criteria. But other online games (and offline RPGs) are designed to be picked up, played for maybe 5 months and then abandoned for when the next big game comes along. A Veteran MMO gamer knows that the experience of the game is stretched out over years, and if crafted properly, it leaves players with some of the best gaming experiences to be found anywhere. This is the problem most content is solo and you get your group action from a cross-server queueing tool. This is not like older MMOs where servers developed real communities. It's more like MacDonald's Drive-Thru, where you queue up, do your run, then never meet those people again.
True, but but the Yuke design would satisfy both the "retains humanoid shape for gear creation ease (SE)" and the "it's not just a human with different ears/horns/tails/etc (playerbase)" ideals. Automatons would be a nice addition to the game. If they follow the Yuke design, it would be a nice FF throwback.
I always liked the tall, elegant look they had in Crystal Bearers.
LIES AND SLANDER!
Never trust a bald man! >w>

What about a race that was similar to Moogles in the Ivalice Alliance games? A cute race with some animalistic features.
Race: Mooglings, distant, terrestrial cousins to the Moogles of the Twelvewoods.
Physical Appearance: Bodies covered in fur. Small muzzled noses. Long, pointed ears on the top of their head. One, long antenna with a pompom on top. Pompoms and tips of the ears are the same color as hair. Small pair of flightless, bat-like wings on their upper back. Eyes similar to a rabbit's. Pawed feet.
Tribes: Tribe A is around Lalafellian height, with shorter limbs, a rounder build, and a longer pompom antenna, while Tribe 2 a bit taller (taller the Lalafels but shorter then Miqo'te), with more human-like proportions.
Fur colors: White, Cream, Light Brown, Light Red and Pink, Light Violet, Light Blue
I don't mind if Viera were more animal then human.
That is how it should be, that would make them unique.

I would love to play a Viera![]()
Honestly they need a full beast race, auras are like the cats, mostly look like humans.. something like ... oh i don't know i'm just throwing an example here like the Ronso or something.
What ARE Viera? They're tall humans with rabbit ears and long nails. It's not being oversimplistic, it's just literally what those demi-"beast"men are. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but you can't act like Viera are the most unique and perfect addition. I mean, look at the census for 2015, The Au Ra are smaller minority than the Roegadyn, I guess that making more cute/sexy women doesn't bring in as many people are you think either. The point I've made before is that the Roegadyn and Highlander aren't fierce because the men of their race are already even more fierce than them, if you keep it within the race (As you should when discussing things like the aesthetics of a race) then the women aren't nearly as fierce as you think they are. For example, Roegadyn men are massive bulks of mass with flat square heads, their shape is hardly humanoid. Now compare that too Roegadyn women, who have much more human body shapes and facial structures. Roegadyn Men generally appeal to folks who like "bears" and men who want to be massive inhuman giant folks, Roegadyn women generally appeal to folks who either want to imagine Roegadyn women in a vacuum (And thus give them that fierce and tough appearance) or folks who like "amazonian" sexy women. If people go into the game looking for a race where the women aren't half the size of the men (Either in height or thickness) and way leagues feminine of the men of their race they're not going to find it, currently or with the addition of Viera, and heck that's a problem (As you're still not trying to target that demographic). What on earth are you talking about in comparing FFXIV to FFXII and saying "in a lot of ways is" like.. What? I mean, can I say FF9 is basically FFXI or something?
But hey, you're right! The original girl Au Ra design isn't as fierce as I'd prefer, but it'd be leagues more tolerable (Assuming the heights aren't still pathetically short and their emotes aren't also comparable to an excitable tween) than what we have. Heck, I personally think most people like the original Au Ra design because they've got bigger hips and bigger breasts (Invoking that "Sexy succubus" that a lot of people really want), which I really don't particularly care for. Fierce really isn't an extreme definition when what I'm saying is "Hey can we have a race that looks as badass and strong as the men of their race?". Give 'em an option for a flatter chest (Though, hey! Make it so the breast slider goes from "flat" to "massive", I don't really care as long as I'm sated), make sure the heights are equal, have it so things like scale mass & patterns aren't different between the sexes (Or, hey, ideally make it a toggle or slide!), and give them at least one tough face. Maybe you need another game, FFXII maybe?
They're not really "manly" when the men of their race are still twice as "manly" as them. We can't use other races to compare them too either, or else literally every race is manly as Lalafell are dumb little blobs on the extreme end. If we keep things within races, Roegadyn or Highlander women are no where near as masculine or tough looking as their men.. And that's kinda the problem.
Shrugs, I mean, they're introducing the Void Ark.. And that doesn't mean the Dev team can't focus on more than one thing. It's also a little rude to come into a thread asking for entirely off topic things, don't you think? Like it wouldn't be cool if someone waltzed in on one of the class threads going "This is all meaningless fluff, I play this game for the lore and characters, Dev team, make more clothes for me and not this dumb stuff".
Moogles would be cute, but I think adding moogles (Especially when we already have our own moogles) would just annoy the demographic asking for a beastman race. I think they're looking more at something like the Sahagin, Amalj'aa, or Ixal.
I wouldn't mind Burmecian.. Or I'd probably be massively happy if we were given a legit reptilian race. I'm hoping for something more unique to be honest.
I'm a giant dragon and heretic sympathizer and I love character customization
See my thread about equalizing the heights for men and women of each race! http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/253435-A-suggestion-regarding-height.
Quick point, but this is due to the relatively small amount of people who purchased Heavensward compared to those 5 or so million who purchased ARR and quit shortly after. If you were to take a look at active players only, you'd see that both female Au Ra and Miqo'te greatly outnumber the other races, especially Roegadyn. I'm not quite sure why you made this point as it's essentially void if you've bothered to pay attention to the races commonly found in game.
