In short, Gathering retainers have their uses, while combat ones are pretty worthless and really need to have SE look at them.....

You are kidding me. Hunting Retainers have been the most useful thing to leveling up many of my crafts, including leather, alchemy, and well, most of the class (Freaking Deepeye Tears). If any, it's way better to use retainers for farming than actually farming the items itself. (Especially with items like Chimera manes and Crawler's cocoons) It's a great way to build up your material supplies overtime. If anything, it's been the best thing for my crafts.

However, I do agree that they need to fix up the explorations aspect and bring back more updated items.

they should add "Dye ventures" where you send your retainer to get rare dyes.
