I was wondering when this topic would be brought up again..

Your essentially saying 1million+ people (the numbers SE are aiming for..) can't invent a unique name with out using the space bar? This? in the days of unique pin numbers and passwords for everything we own, right?
30,000 players and we're arguing over the right to our uniqueness of our last names? Damn. I dont see the need for them to exist. And baring that. I'd want the option to opt out.
It ruins my immersion. And from a practical standpoint its hell if you wana send a quick tell to someone thats just jogged past you. That's just my opinion.

What "immersion" by having a name only give? Name only is usually reserved for some very great entity, like a Primal, Archon or a God.Your essentially saying 1million+ people (the numbers SE are aiming for..) can't invent a unique name with out using the space bar? You're saying that having names as they work in the real world (first name/surname) is bad...and having stuff like "XxXG0DlySephir0th86XxX" is a better option for immersion? Really?
How is it that a naming convention that actually exists in the real world is less immersive than something that looks like a bad chatroom username on AOL back in the 90's?
Make surnames optional?

what i find most interesting is you're assuming a space bar STOPS those kind of names.I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding you.
