Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Oh, I once had this Library run when I leveled the bard. The BLM played mediocre and didn't say a single word, then I had a paladin and a WHM who belonged together. Everything is fine, then the WHM says right before the first boss: "stop slacking bard". I didn't know what he meant (english isn't my mother tongue and I didn't know the word "slacking"), so I asked, and the tank was like "nwm him, you're doing fine". Uh okay. We continue on, WHM continues on calling me a slacker while I start loosing sight of his mana as I noticed he is a brillant player stance dancing perfectly while never getting even close to be out of mana. The second boss dropped the bard chestpiece which was an upgrade for me, but I decided not to equip it before leaving the dungeon because it didn't fit my glamour (mud green + Ultros purple = no-go) - before the final boss, the tank asked me for equipping it. I do so and say: "now I look like an idiot" and the WHM answers: "it suits you well". Nice. After BLM and WHM left after the final boss, the tank apologized like an thousand times for his friend's behavior - he had a bad day, he said. But it was okay for me as I never met a better healer before or after this run.
Yet I still don't know what "slacking" means ._.
Was healing expert roulette, get Fractal. Tank is a pld with vit accs should be okay right...never uses a defensive cooldown on anything but a boss (on bosses he uses only rampart) yet proceeds to pull full rooms with a mch (who isnt using gaius) so mobs chew him for more than 7 minutes each time. I ask him to use cooldowns, no response. I let his health dip into low percentages so he would be tempted to use some...he uses clemency instead -_-''

Classic counter-control tactic :P "That's not gonna make me use cooldowns. *uses clemency*"

Ran Neverreap for the first time with some linkshell buddies as SMN and we get paired with a WHM. Run went pretty well as far as I could tell, then just before Waukkeon that WHM says something about me being carried.
Er... what?
I always thought the people being "carried" provided 0 to extremely little contribution to the duty. Like... having people run into wall at the start of T5 and T9. So I'm confused. I may not be the best SMN around, and my gear is a work in progress (managed to farm up enough Law for upgraded left side and a few upgraded accessories, but still using the Gubal Library book atm), but I thought I did fairly well. I died once during the final boss, but that was pretty much it.
So... could anyone explain what being carried means?

The WHM was probably running a parse.. but you don't need to one to know you're carrying someone. It's PAINFULLY obvious if I'm carrying a DRG for example.
Basically if you're falling way behind the other DPS and the other, or the healer(heh) has to pick up the slack.
In your case though, you can't help if you're undergeared.

You are right in my opinion, but gaming words tend to have multiple meanings. The way I understand it, being carried is the opposite of pulling your weight. It means you aren't doing the minimum that's required of your role to beat the dungeon/raid. Some people, however, think that getting carried means you are not doing as well as other people in the dungeon are doing. Going by that definition you're going to be "carried" until your gear is caught up to everyone else's.
