E-Role Play, is this accepted or not?

On my server I've been noticing some fishy PF messages lately. Something like: "Looking for strong indipendent women who wants to earn some gils. Join our Inn, RP required."

Further investigation has proved that there is people hiring irl girls, who ''entertain'' guests in their ''inn''. Of course, this service is provided with specific fees, which do not involve irl money or identities, as far as I know.

I guess the bohemian mindset behind this kind of entertainment in game can't be argued, since it is inoffensive as long as it is confined in our private gaming session, without texting explicit stuff in /say or /shout. Then again... I can't help to consider it a show of bad taste, since it is presented like... well, you got it, I'm not sure this can be discussed in this forums or not. And I've been wondering... is this kind of attitude in FFXIV commonly accepted by its community and GMs? Can it be carried out without sanctions?

ERP is fine as long as it's done somewhere secluded or inside your FC/personal house. Basically, "don't annoy others with what you are doing" is the rule about it.

It's 'tolerated'. One of those, "Don't ask, don't tell." sorts of things. If you're going to partake, it's best to do so in private locations or in /tells... preferably both as experience in other mediums has taught me the possibility of forgetting /t or /r is hilariously high. So long as you aren't involving random people noone will care.

As long as you don't brag about using parser to measure your ERP output or pay real life money for the "entertainment" you should be fine.

You also have to remember that Eorzean life is based around a time when this kind of stuff was the "norm" for society in the real world. Evidence of this is seen all throughout the game (although, primarily in Ul'dah). As long as they keep it private, I don't have any quarrels what people do.

This is a boon for the community. Some nerd gets to squeeze one out, some guy pretending to be a girl on the internet makes a few grand, and I make a few mil off of my ridiculously overpriced tits armor and bathing suits.

A real win-win-win.

My exact thought, there have been allusions throughout the lore since the very beginning. It's just that... I've been playing since 1.0, and this is the first time I see this kind of content publicly promoted. I mean, if you post a PF message to recrute some girls, you're not saying anything in details, YET, at the same time, you're promoting this activity of yours among all the players... I don't know if this should be considered tolerable or not. Not that I care that much, it's just that I'm afraid it could be push our server community to keep it less private from now on.

I don't think anyone has promoted it, exactly. More suggesting to keep it private and away from public areas. It's going to happen anyway, likely been happening since 1.0. The fact noone's been aware of it is pretty good evidence that people are doing a decent job of keeping it private and away from public areas.

I don't know but this made me laugh. The fact that there is actually enough demand to warrant supplying the service is hilarious in it's own right. Apparently the RP servers are insanely more interesting than mine. lol
