Urgh. No. 1.0 was bad enough, I don't feel the urge to imagine FFXIV being an utter mess again (and 1.0 actually had proper story and lore in comparison..).
Actually, I don't dislike the FFXIII games or Type-0 or what little we know about FFXV so far, gameplaywise. I'm even somewhat okay with the characters and the direction the story took.
The lore though? I despise it to the core. Nothing about it feels finished, it's more like they created characters and then kiiind of tried to weave a lazy explanation around them to make their story full of plotholes SOMEHOW make sense and all it did was making the already vague and messy lore even more convoluted.
I'm incredibly happy FFXIV is not part of that world (even though something atrocious happened and Lightning is now able to jump into any world she wants to, even Hydaelyn ;_; ), but I would find it funny if someone actually wrote down a scenario on what would be different x)
To actually answer the question.
Expect the city states (if they continued to exist) to be far more technologically advanced.
The Primals wouldn't exist in the way they do now (existing through prayer and the like). If they did exist as bosses, they'd have to be summoned via some crazy powerful l'Cie as Eidolons.
I'm not sure how the plot would really change, if involving Hydaelyn and Zodiark. As sentient crystals I don't see why they can't still be a plot point.
I do not however think things like the beast tribes, the dragons, or the like would remain though. The Fabula Nova Chrystallis, from what I understand, didn't have that level of fantastic creatures running around. So about half of Heavensward wouldn't work as there would be no sentient dragons to make us realize how much our ancestors sucked.
Job wise, as I think only l'Cie can use magic (And I'm not sure about that due to Type-Zero), all the DoM jobs would either have to be reworked to not use magic (lolwat) or every player is a l'Cie, which would make sense. I don't know how the summons work as a whole, but either every Player gets a summon as a LB or keep the summons exclusive to a summoner job.
Overall, as XIV and the FNC are the only games in recent memory that actually involve crystals as a major plot point, it is an entertaining thought to follow.

That;s because XIV is meant to Incorporated past elements of the previous Final Fantasies, and crystals were a plot point int the first few games ina ddition to the gaem you already mention (which is also why Bravely Default had crystals as a plot point)
to add, only 3 games are actually directly connected, type-0 was only connected because of sharing the lore and XV, as Enkidoh stated, has been exercized of anything connecting it to the FNC lore.
That remidns me, was Toriyama demoted over the recepetion of the games, they didn't bomb unlike say...Spirits Within so I don't think he'd be fired, they they ARE polarisizng so I expected that he did get punished somehow.
I think you're the only one who actually decided to answer the question rather than complain about XIIITo actually answer the question.

i dun lik ff13 iz bad gam :'((((( ff14 4 life :]]] perfect plot perfect characters perfect game... what can i say lol :]![]()
Instead of the Warrior of Light we would be a L'cie I suppose, and the Fal'cie would be Hydaelyn? xD
Gimme the L'cie brand as tattoos anyway.
I'm aware of this. I was going to include Bravely Default, but as it is not actually a Final Fantasy game, I elected to ignore it.
It's an interesting question in my opinion. Story aside, the world and the themes around the FNC I find quite interesting.
