Successful P2P games don't need to go F2P to strengthen themselves.
NCsoft seems to be a little set in its ways and has a tendancy to veer towards with what they think is good business practices vs what the market has proven. They're often seen as the weakest of the mmo giants with several cancelled MMOs that were financially mishandled.

I'd say they're doing pretty well for themselves with a successful tv show for its sequel ( A sequel that square has signed on as publisher for).

What ever you think of NCSoft, they are the only one out there that has 3 running MMO with subscription base over 1m (L, L2 and Aion). Whatever market has proven, they are far more successful than people want to bash them.

I too liked the Crafting and Housing in EQ2.
My only gripe with the housing was it was instanced, and walking to a predetermined location on a map and picking your house out of a list in a menu killed the immersion for me.
But the customizable housing interiors and storage space were brilliant.

Let's not forget EQ2's better, IMO, crafting system.

I'm curious to see how the dev's will manage player housing here in FFxiv.
Let's just hope it's worth waiting for.

I was referring to the fact I never see it mentioned on any beta boards or ideas improved upon.

As far as the housing I like it quite a bit too, but agree the selection was a bit limited. I enjoyed crafting before they nerfed it, and made it 100x easier, but useless as far as quality.

I totally agree that SE should not just steal other games successes. However I think it will take quite a bit to try to find something thats never been attempted before. The whole object is to do things better than others in the market. I myself did not like WOW any of the times I attempted it, and Mortal Online was a disappointment after spending so much time and money on the beta (right now Im trying Xsyon), but all of these had great ideas that I am sure can be expanded on and turned into FF content with its own twists.

Again, of all of the games ive taken part of in beta, or early release, I am the most excited about ff14. Even in the state its in now, it just seems right.

I have my fingers crossed for Airship houses. That way I can take it every where I go.

nah OP, you're not the only one who played EQ2. I did for years alongside XI. I made a thread in Battle suggesting an alternative idea for the aggro icon, based on EQ2's system:

I'd also love to see EQ2 style housing/apartments added, as well as their underwater/swimming content.

I nearlt played EQ but i was too young. My parents are kinda strict about games. I'm the only gamer other then my dad who I don't live with >.> lame....... in my family. Explaining an mmo to my mom and how you need time to play it is like telling belginrolf that graphics in ffxiv are good (for an mmo)

I' played Aion, the game and story and character art are not that bad. Just too much copy and paste between the 2 waring pc factions. And the communty on Aion SUCKS. Any community wgere newbies are treated like crap 6mnth into launch, and where ppl yell at you fot looking for a legion (guild) under 25. Is a crap community. Nearly every question I had got met wuth a Learn2play carebear.
