Final Fantasy XI Grandmasters on Vita?

I just recently saw some footage on youtube and liked what I saw. Reminded me of old school PS1 cutesy jrpgs which I loved growing up but was then disappointed when I saw that it was a mobile only game. I never got into FFXI and with the recent news of its eventual shutdown would make FFXI the only FF I never played in the entire timeliine, including the spin offs such as tactics.

Would it be possible to get it on Vita as many games from mobile also get ported to the Vita? The Vita needs some love and I'm sure Sony wants some high profile games on it as well.

I personally hate mobile games for creating freemium and micro-transactions so rampant that developers have lost sight of how to actually make fun games instead of cash sinks. Not to mention that 1/3 of the screen is always covered by your thumbs but I digress. Please consider PS Vita an option if FFXI:GM "hopefully" gets international release. I would love to experience the FFXI adventure, even if its a single player game.

Grandmasters isn't single player it's online, ffxi isn't shutting down its just not going to be getting anymore major version updates so it'll still be around to try out, grandmasters isn't going to BE ffxi, it's just set in the same world so it won't be a good substitute for the actual ffxi experience.

Actually, there is suppose to be a FFXI port coming on Vita iPhone I believe. Give me a sec to find it.

Not to be confused with Grandmasters but SE had 2 things planned for XI on smartphones. As for a Vita port, I know SE put some of there mobile games on the Vita but I think that service is discontinue. Only way for it to be on Vita, would require a very big demand by the people. As Cabalabob said, only the PS2 and 360 versions of the game are being discontinued. The Windows work will still have full support.

ahh k good to know FFXI isn't shutting down "immediately" but I still find it's too late for me as a decade of catching up in an MMO is too daunting. Yeah, FFXIGM is online but it was toted as single player with online capabilities when I first read up on it since it mostly quest based. Like a drop in drop out style of online. Still pretty neat and would love to play it on a dedicated gaming hand-held. It's also not a question of demand but rather a question of maximizing your market. If they can easily port it to a hand held why wouldn't they? It's like the old business saying "If there's no market for it, then make one"

Grandmasters is a brand new mobile game set in XI's world and shouldn't be confused with the mobile port of XI that's being co-developed by SE and Nexon. The mobile port of XI is being released internationally, but there are currently no plans for a localization of Grandmasters. XI's mobile port is not going to use the same servers as the proper game, players are expected to start from scratch, but the XI team is considering bonuses for current XI players. FFXI is not being shutdown, but service for PS2 and 360 is being terminated early next year.

I don't see anyone paying a sub fee for a game that is not getting updates ever again. I wish they would have upgraded the graphics and made it F2P on PC or made it work offline and allow mods in the game for HD packs,etc. Do people really play an mmo for hundreds of hours on tiny little screens?

Yes, people do play MMOs for hundreds of hours on tiny little screens. Like laptops with 13", or 15", screens or mobile devices. (I know you didn't mean a 13", or 15", screen, but nowadays those are tiny screen sizes. lol)

i played a few moblle mmo their actually pretty cool. One i tried that lets u make ur own hair stile from picking "bangs" "back" and "tails" pretty much front back top most are very basic, and a good bunch are f2p. but not to shabby. 1 i did run into had a fatigue system XD i died laughing.
