We could post every single version of the Prelude, Main Theme and Chocobo Theme for him to peruse over, and for us to enjoy.
Then throw him off-balance by adding in the Aerith Theme and saying "If you don't know this one you're a noob!"
Yeah, initial issue resolved. Now I just need to know why I don't recognize the theme from the earlier games I've played (Been playing since FFX).
*Begins YouTubing...*
Ok, starting to get it now. Found it in XII (that was the easy one) but I can't pick it in either Tactics Advance, X or XIII, meaning I can only find it in two games since FF hit the Playstation 2 (about when I started gaming), including this game.
So either it's not as obvious to a new-school player or someone needs to point it out to me in the more recent games.
Titles not part of the main series usually don't have it.Yeah, initial issue resolved. Now I just need to know why I don't recognize the theme from the earlier games I've played (Been playing since FFX).

Those are the Preludes, bumpkin. The prelude is not in question.
Granted, that's what I would have defined as the signature tune in FF, but that's not what we're talking about.
Final Fantasy games that don't have the old 'swords, scorcery and castles' appearance to them tend to not use the standard Final Fantasy Theme tune, possibly because it may not fit in with the more 'modern/futuristic' theme of the game. Games such as 7, 8 and 10 commonly possessing their own personalised theme to better suit their visual appearance.
Example:
FF7 - Highly technological futuristic theme with fantasy style
FF8 - Visual style closer to modern real-life appearance
FF4 - Airships, magical swords, castles and knights
FF2 - Swords, scorcery and castles
As far as I know this is the standard way they go about choosing their 'mascot' music for each Final Fantasy game.
Understandable since starting with X Uematsu had a diminished involvement in music composition (and composed zero music for XIII since he was working on this game).Yeah, initial issue resolved. The main theme was used in XI, but I think its first appearance was the final cutscene of the "Crystalline Prophecy" add-on scenario.
Nope, however I played as 2 characters straight from FFXI, which is indeed a tip to the existence of XI's existence.Ok, so I just finished the Thirteenth Cycle in Dissidia Duodecim.
As the end credits rolled, my eyes widened as I heard the theme for FFXIV! (No, not the song Answers, the stuff we heared during trailers and character creation.)
So what I'm wondering is if this is actually a subtle tip of the hat to FFXIV's existance, or if that very music was used in an earlier title?
Can someone enlighten me?
